What to bring to the hospital
So I've been reading a bunch of lists online that suggest things you should pack for the hospital. Some are really extensive, and I just can't imagine needing all that stuff for just a couple of days (well hopefully that's all).
Are there any things you found you definitely did not need, or things you wish you had brought with you?
TIA!
Re: What to bring to the hospital
Everything I brought I needed, but I think I was conservative. Comfy, loose pants and nursing camis were my go-to as soon as I could get out of bed and take a shower (also- shower accessories). The things I did bring that I never used were my bathrobe and slippers -- a hoodie sweatshirt and flipflops sufficed.
The one thing I will suggest, especially if you are planning to BF, is your own Boppy or any other nursing pillow you may have. The time in the hospital will help you get used to using it, plus it will just keep you more comfortable while learning to BF.

I agree with MB- I packed a few dresses suitable for nursing but I was pretty cold so I am glad I had a zip up hoodie to throw over it. I wore a nursing tank most of the time and either boxers or comfy pants. (hell for when guests werent there I sat in those wonderful undies they give you). I brought my laptop that both of us used, one change of clothes for Charlotte, the boppy and my own pillow for comfort. I just brought a crappy pillow case with some color (which was great for pictures). I didnt have the stale old white in the background of my swollen face after labor.
I brought my makeup and never used it, but did use the shampoo conditioner, soap etc... that I packed.
Call me crazy, but I never understood the women who wanted their makeup perfect for the hospital. Seriously... you just had a baby. Don't you think THAT should be your focus, rather than how you may or may not look for the pictures? GEESH!

I felt stupid packing it but all of my friends kept telling me I would be upset if I didnt have it. I wasnt going to look good with it on after all the fluids I received... I was SO swollen.

At my shower my mom gave me nice comy pjs that I wore the next day. I brought shower stuff and my pillow. I had a swaddler for the baby and her going home outfit and my makeup. Which I am glad I had bc our hospital does newborn family pics and I would be upset if I looked bad in them. (I actually love how they came out)
H had his laptop and some comfy clothes.
other than that, anything I needed the hospital provided.
I don't have my list with me at the moment but I feel like I used everything I brought.
I did not bring makeup, hair straightener or dryer or anything glamorous. I only brought mascara.
I did bring and use my boppy, a nightgown, comfy pants for when i walked around and people where there and a light robe. I brought underwear but I personally LOVED the hospital underwear lol. They also used diapers as ice packs and they were awesome! I brought uncomfortable coming home clothes though. I brought leggings and a maternity top and cardigan and nothing fit because I was so swollen from all of the fluids. I was smashed into everything and I felt gross. Next time I'm wearing Kevin's clothes home lol.

Ditto pretty much everything said above. The ONE thing not mentioned that I wish I had at the hospital was a velcro SwaddleMe blanket. Our kid was a biggin and he kept breaking out of the hospital blankets when swaddled. The Summer Infant velcro SwaddleMe's were our faves as soon as we got home.
Oh and I did use my makeup. I put it on the morning I was discharged. I was not going to see the light of day without it.
OK THAT I can understand. I think it's the women who make sure their make-up is perfect for L&D that drives me insane...

I can't remember exactly what I had on my list to bring... But I think I used it all.
I did bring make up... and did use it. It really helped me feel more put together.
And I know some people rec' bringing their own undies, but I really like the mesh ones they give you at the hospital. In fact, I grabbed some to take home so I wouldn't have to worry about the laundry because I could just toss them.

Also, wanted to add... I was in the hospital for 4 days, which is longer than most stays... so anything I didn't need, I sent home with my mom or Dan... and anything I needed/wanted they could bring it over for me. So keep that in mind, too.
Oh and if you're doing prof. pics in the hospital, bring stuff you want LO to wear... and cute blankets. I didn't prepare for this but my mom thankfully came with a bunch of gifts for Evie so it worked out,
