Jake and I share the smallest closet ever. No joke. Anybody else stuck in small closet hell? If so, do you have an organzing system? I'm thinking about buying something but I want to do my research first.

Re: Small Closet Hell
What kind of system are you using now?
I love researching organizing systems, especially on the cheap. I'm having a slow day, so if you give me some ideas I wil try to help!
The "throw all of your clothes all over the floor, bed, and closet system". I wouldn't reccomend it. ;-)

LOL! We have a big closet and that's still my husband's system!
The obvious ones....hang rods both up high and lower, so you have two layers of hanging clothes instead of just one. If for whatever reason that doesn't work, hang one rod up high and install drawers or a small, inexpensive dresser at the bottom for folding storage. Shoes can go in an over-the-door hanger or on shelves, either installed on wall or on a bookshelf (this is outside the closet, of course). Store out-of-season clothes in vacuum bags or in rubbermaid containers and put in storage.
Do you have other places where you can hang clothes? We sometimes keep clothes hanging on the rod above our washer/dryer or in the coat closet.
Or, play around with this? http://www.containerstore.com/elfa/designCenter/index.htm
I kinda want to do this now!
O.M. G. I love this!
I'm kind of thinking we're going to have to purge. I'm totally cool with that, but Jake sucks at it. Our bedroom is also teeny tiny so no room for an armoire. :-(
DUDE, that link is awesome. So doing that tonight after i measure the closet!

LOL!! This is our system too.
I get full use of the bedroom closet - DH has to use the closet in his office, which often leads to the above mentioned system for filing his clothes.
I use the closet in our bedroom for in- season clothes. My work clothes hang up and I fold jeans and casual clothes on the shelves.
I use clear shoe boxes on the top shelf and on the floor along with slimmer version of these:

In the winter I keep my sweaters in LO's closet- and just rotate out my summer shirts.
H has the closet in the spare bedroom. I would love ones of those organizing systems but I can't jusify the cost at the moment. I'd have to do a major purge before H would even consider it- even though I can honestly say that I have worn everything in my closet in the last 4-5ish months.
For me the biggest space saver was getting rid of those folding closet doors and replacing them with curtains that coordinate with out bedroom set. It gave me a few inches on the bottom and access to more corner shelving where I can place shoe boxes. Every inch helps!
