Did/will you give your REA a gift or card?

We are appreciative of the hours our REA put in for us this summer.  Is a thank-you note enough or even necessary?  What did you do?

Re: Did/will you give your REA a gift or card?

  • The best gift you can give your REA is referrals for future business.
  • A thank you note would be a nice gesture but the best thanks for a REA are referrals.
  • OUr REA sucked, so no, we got her nothing.  She actually gave us a $100 GC to a local restaurant so we could celebrate our new home.  Very nice of her, but didn't change our opinion of her.

  • Ours sucks too. She's lucky to get her commission. She's not getting anything else from us.

Hahaha, this. Buying and selling ours only got her commission...that's plenty!

  • Ours was fantastic and since we used Red Fin, they only got 1.5% but still, we didn't send her a gift or anything. It was more of a team effort anyway. They have field agents and regular agents. My gift to them is that I loved it and tell everyone. :)

  • I'm getting my REA and her two little girls something.  Not much, and its a crafty DIY thing so not very expensive.  She's been working with me for 9 months and has been great, and her little girls are so cute :)

  • As an agent, a nice card is ALWAYS appreciated. Many agents, well I like to think many of us :) work a lot harder than people realize and are very under appreciated. A gift isn't necessary but I'm sure your agent would love a thoughtful card.

Yes - referrals will always be appreciated by your agent. If he/she did a good job for you, there is no better thank you than sending business their way!

  • We did not get our REA anything. She got us a $100 gift card to Lowes and a bottle of champagne. We were relatively easy buyers. We only looked at a dozen houses over a period of 2 months.
  • We did not.  We did immediately after closing ask her to keep an eye out for land for us (and thus letting her know we plan to use her again) and also that we had referred one of our friends to her.

This.  And we've already done this, more than once.

  • We got her an edible arrangement. We don't have any friends currently in the market, but we do have several that will be looking next year following their weddings. We will definitely be sending business her way.

Unfortunately, this.  If I was very happy with our realtor I probably would send a TY card stating that I would refer them whenever the opportunity arose.

  • We will most likely get our REA a gift card as well as a card as a thank you. He was much more than a REA to us, he acted as a parent, gave honest opinions and helped us weed through every decision. He's also done a lot of things on his own for us like having replacement of some failed windows estimated on his weekend and personal time, and having someone fix a squeaky floor for free. For what he has done for us I can't imagine NOT getting him a thank you. Plus, we introduced him to a pizza place we like and he has drug us back there twice since so, getting him a gc to there makes sense :)
