Cruise Recap

Sorry it's taken me so long! School started last week, and it has been nuts!

We went on a 5 night cruise to Bermuda on Royal Caribbean's Explorer of the Seas (I have the first two days outlined in my blog). I was only half excited about Bermuda, but it was somewhere DH really wanted to go, plus it was a quick driving distance, after that whole mess in December when we drove from CT to Miami.

Leave from NJ, Cruise Day, Bermuda, Bermuda, Cruise Day, back in NJ

I have actually been on this boat before, but for a different itinerary, and DH and I went on the sister ship in 2009 when we got engaged. It was so much bigger than our cruise in December, which made me super happy, and we went with my Mother and Father in law, my sister in law, and her boyfriend (same group as December).

Hurricane Gert made us hover 60 miles off the coast of Bermuda for a little while, and we got into bermuda 3 hours late, but I didn't mind, because we had stayed up late the night before.

Bermuda was probably my favorite island, maybe tied with Curacao and Grand Cayman. The water was beautiful, and Bermuda is a little higher class than the caribbean islands.

The easiest way to get around the island is public transportation. You can buy a 2 day bus/ferry pass for $20 per person, and it is worth every penny. If you take a taxi, it's $40 no matter what. Everyone is very friendly, and locals will help you find the bus you are looking for. We took the 7 bus to get to the beaches, and the 1 to get to the caves.

Horseshoe Bay was beautiful, but there were way too many people. We really enjoyed Elbow Beach because it was smaller, and less crowded. The caves were unlike anything I had ever seen before!

We were very happy with this vacation compared to the one in December, and we have already booked our next one for April. We will be going to Labadee, Haiti, Falmouth, Jamaica, George Town, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel Mexico.

I've actually done this itinerary for my very first cruise (exactly 10 years from this one in April), but DH has never been to any of these. I'm just happy that it's a caribbean cruise, and not New  England. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to cruise into Boston. What am I going to do, call my brother up to meet me at a bar??

haha.
