It's a Girl!!!!
Leighton Geraldine was born on Wednesday at 2:29 pm. She weighed 8 pounds 5.5 ounces and was 19 inches long. We are both doing great!
The labor and delivery went really good. I went in at 5:30 am to be induced. They started the pit at 6:00 and I started feeling contractions at 7:00. I was planning on getting an epidural and when I was between a 5 and 6 I asked for them to go ahead and get it ordered. Unfortunately it didn't take and the contractions started coming very fast and were intense. I have never felt pain like that ever in my life!! My dr. came in to check me and I was at a 7. He called and got an order in for another epidural right away. He went back to his office and told the nurses to keep him updated. When I sat up for the 2nd epidural I felt incredible pain and pressure. The 2nd one took....such relief!!!! About 30 minutes after I got the 2nd epidural the nurse checked and me and said I was complete! I did 2 trial pushes and she said she was calling the Dr. right away. He got there within 5 minutes (I delivered in a small hospital and his office is very close) and I pushed through 3 contractions for a total of 9 minutes and Leighton was born!! I didn't need an episiotomy and only had 2 stitches for a very small tear.
Sorry for any typos and the long paragraph!!! Adjusting to a new baby and having a 4 year old is much different than just having a new baby!!!!
