I like obnoxious glittery nail polishes in blue, gold, or purple. The more it looks like a Drag Queen would wear it, the more I LOVE it. I only use the glittery stuff on my toes, my fingers are bare or with clear polish.
I tend to buy Opi, and right now this is my favorite shade:

I cannot keep polish on my finger nails. No matter what its chipping off within 24 hours. Doesn't matter if their professionally done, or I do them. nothing.
But I keep the pigs painted at all times. Usually reds and pinks that accent my tattoo well
These are the ones I love right now. Too bad I can't keep the stuff on my fingers.
I almost never put it on my fingernails. It chips so fast. Sarack - I don't think those are too much
My piggies right now are kinda funny - the one who went to market is in a sort of metallic grayish lavender (some Jane shade), while all the rest of them are in this sherberty orange sparkle (Surfer Girl from Gap, YEARS old).

These aren't my nails. They are all ones I found on pinterest that I love. I'm not entirely sure how they do it. The ones with glitter they start at the tip and fade the glitter down to the base of the nail.
is this from pinterest? i saw it and love it. i have no idea how i could recreate it though.
to answer your question, i always love french..i have naked fingers, and chipping, peeling, pretty much gone light pink on my toes.
