ugh. Briac woke us up all through the night and then H wakes me up at 7h30 to tell me that Briac peed and pooped on my couch cushion. I am tired and cranky

He was using the litter box yesterday and the day before...I guess the litter box deodorizer that I bought made him not want the cat box anymore. I find myself fantasizing about a catskin purse this morning. ugh. The pee smell is not going away!
Re: I want to kill my cat
OK. First, Deep breath
Now, replace the cat litter with clean litter and no deodorizer.
How often do you clean out the box? It may have been to "dirty for him". My cat used to sit and meow at the door to the box room if it wasn't to her liking. Sometimes she wanted it cleaned out after every poop and sometimes I could it every other day.
AS for the smell. Can't help you there. I was blessed with two cats that never went out of the box (yes, in 9 years, no accidents)
I know your pain! Cat pee is the WORST smell. Tofu recently peed in one of our closets and we can't get the smell out, it's disgusting.
This morning he woke us up by meowing incredibly load because he wanted us to 1) play with him 2) turn the water on in the sink so he can drink cold, running water 3) open the windows so he can sit on the ledge and wait for other cats to walk by. He finally chilled out when I woke up, turned the sink on and chased him around the dining room for 5 minutes.
Oh no. Is your couch cushion removable? Can you throw the cover in the wash? You're going to have to douse the thing with neutralizer and then I would leave it outside to air out.
(Edit: Throw the cover in the wash, not box. Box doesn't even make sense!)
That sucks!
I've always had luck with pouring soda water (club soda) over cat pee on carpets and then soaking it up with paper towel then letting it dry. I've also used baking soda for pee and it seems to work too: dump a lot of baking soda over the spot to cover it by a centimeter or so and let it sit for a few hours, then vacuum it up.
When it came to cat litter, any eco-ness I may have had went right out the window. Odor control and absorbancy/clumping won out.
I used Arm-N-Hammer Odor Control. People told me the condo never smelled like cat at all and I had two of them. I had a rough door mat in front of the box and then another one in front of the bathroom door (box was in the spare bathroom) to help with the tracking.
I just woke up and didn't read this 100% correctly and saw that Tofu peed in your closet and I was like, why would TofuMonkey be in your closet?
So back to original question - my husband had a cat and cats just stink. I still smell the kitty litter box in the closet and the cat hasn't lived here for almost 3 years.
