Look what I did! PIP

I went to Michael's today to take advantage of a sale... only to find out the sale is tomorrow, not today.  But I couldn't resist, after biking for 40 minutes to get there, so I bought the stuff I wanted anyway.

I made a door/address wreathe, recreating one I pinned into my DIY board on Pinterest.  I'm not quite finished, and would like to fill it out more with some creamy hydrangea, but it's looking pretty nice so far!  I like it a lot.  It's made with violet, navy and creamy flowers, but I realised they look pretty "red white and blue" under florescent light.  So my American hubby will be happy, haha!

    materials:

18" grape vine  wreathe ($3.99 CAD)

    wooden numbers ($1 each)

    acrylic paint ($.49)

long twist ties (around 6" long)

dried flower stems of your choice ($4 - $11 each)

    directions:

cut the flower stems with wire cutters until the flower with stems are about 9" long.  Strip the plastic from the stem.  Thread through the wreathe where you like, and twist it into place around random bits of grapevine.

Paint the wooden numbers and staple one end of the twist tie to the back of the number.  You can also hot glue these onto the wreath, but I wanted something more interchangeable since Matt and I will be moving a lot.  Though I guess hot glue is easy enough to remove.

Thread the twist tie from the number through the wreathe, and secure it to a bit of grape vine like the flowers.

    Done, enjoy!

  • That turned out sooo cute!  Maybe when we move into a new place I'll be inspired to create one of those.

  • Very nice!  I have the same wreath pinned, but I don't think mine is likely to come out as well as yours did.
