Long weekend getaway ideas?

I want to get a long weekend away with DH since we haven't had an alone trip since our honeymoon. I need some ideas for a 3-4 day trip, if driving something like Poconos, Baltimore, NJ, etc (not more than 3-4 hrs drive). I'm open to short east coast flights too!

I just want something where we can have low key activities (like the Baltimore aquarium) and downtime to well, you know ;-) TIA for any ideas!

Re: Long weekend getaway ideas?

  • I'm a big fan of Baltimore DH and I went there for our first summer Vaca when we started dating. I ADORE Vermont and lake Champlagne (sp?) and Lake George. We also like New Hope PA (though maybe you've been there) When were you going to go?
  • DH & I went to the Finger Lakes in NY for our anniv and it is probably one of my favorite trips we've ever taken. We stayed at a B&B (amazing breakfasts!) and went wine tasting 2 days, visited the Corning Glass Museum (really cool) and just had a very relaxing 4 days!

  • You know Chicago is only a 2 hour flight, right? :)

    I'm no help...

  • I second Baltimore. H and I went there for our anniversary this past April and loved it. We stayed at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront (free parking in their adjacent deck) and had a great view of the harbor. It was nice to walk around the harbor and there are plenty of food options nearby. We didn't get in the car once we got there until we were ready to leave. We also went to the Aquarium but if you want to see the dolphin show you need to purchase those tickets in advance, we were too late :(

  • I was hoping we could go in the next couple months while the weather was nice but not too cold yet. I like the Baltimore idea, thanks Liz for the hotel reference! I hoped you'd chime in :-)

  • How about Savannah or Charleston?  Outer Banks?  It might be closer to fly for you, because I know they're 14 hour drives from Day-twa....

  • What I was trying to say was, if you want to hop a flight to the Carolina's Nelson & I really enjoyed Asheville NC. We toured the Biltmore house which was way more interesting than I thought it'd be & had dinner at The Dining Room at the Inn at Biltmore. It was unbelievable! Biltmore during theholidays is supposed to be breath taking.

  • DC is going to be GORGEOUS in the Fall if you want to go there, see some history and spend some alone time together.
