Do you have a classic trench coat?
I think this fall may be the one where I bite the bullet and buy a good one. What do you love about yours, what do you hate? I get leery of fall coats because I feel like there's such a short window for light outerwear in MD. How often do you wear yours?
Re: Do you have a classic trench coat?
I'm anti coat if I can get away with it. I do have a black trench coat I got from NY & Co about 2 years ago but all and all, I just hate coats personally because I get hot easily. The one that I have though has a zip out lining which makes it awesome for both spring and summer. It's a good length too...sits right below the bum...and for me that's awesome because I'm short.
I do love the look of trench coats though and think that if I had more disposible income, I'd buy a few coats in all different colors and patterns.

I have a black one from there as well. I have a long trench coat I got years ago from Filene's Basement that I sometimes use for work. It's so rare that it's the right weather for it here.
I have a khaki one that I bought a couple of years ago. I actually wear it a lot. It seems like I wear it more in the spring. Fall seems to come and go so quickly. But, in the fall it is nice to keep me from getting rained on. I think I bought it at Macy's around Christmas and it was 60% off or something and I still paid ~$100. But, I consider it a staple, so it was well worth that.
It took me a long time to find the one I wanted. I didn't want a hood because I never wear a hood. And I didn't want one with that flap on the back. But, I wanted one with a belt. I ended up with a fitted trench coat with a zebra lining. I absolutely love it. I'm not sure you're size, but my previous trench I bought at American Eagle (ok, that was like 10 years ago). And, they should have reasonable prices.
No, I have a nice long black wool coat that I wear in winter but not a lighter weight trench coat. I tend to wear layers in the spring and fall since the weather can change so much during the day.
I would probably buy one if the price was awesome though.
Yes, mine has a zip-in/zip-out wool liner, so I can wear it during a range of weather. It's an older Burberry one that I got second-hand.
I love the idea of finding one with a zip-out liner to extend it's use.
I've been going back and forth with whether to get functional and all-purpose black/khaki or a fun pretty color. I guess I'll just have to see what strikes me.
And I agree about that flap in the back--hate that!

I'm all about a trench. It's not like I have to walk far from my car to the office door - so I can stretch a fall coat further than you'd expect.
Of course...I've never actually gotten around to BUYING a nice trench coat and instead wear a mishmash of things from over the years including a black leather jacket (not bikery...almost more like a blazer) and a tan cordoroy coat cut like a trench. but I REALLY want one.
Either classic tan, or maybe something like a leafy green. Or red. or teal.
