Finally seeing a gastroenterologist about my stomach problems. I was sick for almost 3 weeks straight this month (doing OK now for about the last week) with horrible stomach pains and aches and couldn't eat ANYTHING and my regular doctor couldn't figure out what was wrong with me.
I know I should not be nervous, especially because this is the first appointment I'm not going to learn anything but of course my mind goes to the worst things...because of everything that has happened in my life in the last year (you know, losing my dad to cancer that snuck up on him and all). I know it will be better to find out what's wrong with me than just not know, but I'm still nervous.
OK. Vent over i suppose....wish me luck!

Re: Nervous today...(UPDATE)
Just take a few deep breaths...everything will be ok! I'm so glad that you're going to see a specialist so you'll finally be able to find out the reason for feeling so crummy lately. I'm sure it's nothing serious and you'll be fixed up in no time.
Keep us posted Kim!! ::good luck!::

Well, the Dr says there is no real way to find out what was wrong with me, but that it was likely not anything serious (like Chron's disease or something else like that) because it went away on its own. He think it was probably some nasty bacterial infection or something. So i probably will never know why i was so sick...that's aggravating, but i guess it's life. Unless it comes back again and then he'll put me through a bunch of mean tests. I obviously hope i dont get sick like that again!!!
On a neat note, he's testing me for sure to see if i have celiac disease, since ive never gotten a for-sure diagnosis for it. There's a genetic test they can do, if it comes back negative, i definitely DON'T have it and i can try gluten again (though its possible my body is just intolerant to it). If it comes back positive, it doesnt mean that i do have it, but it doesnt mean i dont (that parts complicated)..only other way to find out after that is to go off the gf-diet and then have an endoscopy to see the damage to my intestines (and id rather not eat gluten for the rest of my life than do that hah)
Sorry i have not been around at all lately, ill try to be better. I
you ladies!!

Kim, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get much of an answer from the GI doc, but at least he doesn't think it's anything serious! I'm glad you're doing better. Maybe it was stress-related? Good luck on the Celiac test, I hope you get some answers there!
On a positive note, I was looking at your pics on FB of your baby niece and she is way too cute! You must be so thrilled that they are home now and you can watch and experience her growing up in person
Hugs, and I hope you continue to stay on the mend now! Sending positive thoughts for work your way as always!
She IS way too cute, and its great having them back here so close (they just closed on a house an hour away from me! and moved in this weekend!!!).

Sorry you didn't get more answers from the Dr., but hopefully it was just something bacterial so it's not something you'll have to deal with long-term. Glad to see you back on the nest we've missed you!
Have they tested you for food allergies? (Other than the celiac that they are testing for). My friend's daughter was having major intestinal issues and they couldn't find anything, this went on for a looong time until they finally discovered she has a soy bean allergy (or some sort of bean I can't remember). As soon as she cut it out of her diet she made a complete turn around.
