Ticket

I got pulled over a couple weeks ago for speeding.  He said I was going 78 in a 65 (but he put 75 so it wouldn't go on my insurance).  I just called today to see how much the ticket was because he couldn't give me a price since I had taken my current insurance out of the car to renew my tags.  If I don't show proof of insurance it is $443, but if I do then it is only $143.  That seems pretty cheap to me and I was curious how that differed throughout the country.  Has anyone got a ticket recently?

BTW...I don't drive that fast with Parker in the car.  I had met a friend for lunch and was running late back to the office.  Also, the speed limit on the highway that I usually take is 75 so I wasn't thinking.

Re: Ticket

  • **raises hand in shame**

I had my license revoked for a month while I was on bed rest last year (convenient since I couldn't go anywhere anyways)... so lately I've been getting up to 105 (in a 100kl zone) and putting my cruise on. A couple weeks ago I wasn't paying attention and forgot to set it and got caught doing 121. He only gave me 115 and it was a $145.00 ticket.

    I have a lead foot :(

  • E got a ticket before we left for California and he was at work.  He was pissed off because they sent him somewhere 45 minutes away after he had JUST been there.  He got pulled over for going 55 in a 45 (but he was also in a traffic zone!) and his ticket was $355!

    What is a traffic zone?

  • haha NOT traffic zone but WORK zone.  I'm out of it.  Work zone is where there's construction workers present and the speed limit decreases a little. Traffic fines double.

  • That is what I was thinking you meant!  Pregnancy brain is a b!tch some days!  Rusty got a ticket in a work zone several years ago and he went to pay it and the lady told him it was much cheaper than what the cop had told him.  It was because the cop didn't write on the ticket that it was a work zone!  He got SUPER lucky!

  • On the interstate if you get pulled over, you can pay $25 to the highway patrol right then, or go to court.

    I was going 85 in a 75

    I paid the $25.

That would be AWESOME!  How many of the cops pocket that money?

  • I got one recently... I think 60 in a 45... oops. Ticket was $170ish, and I was able to pay by phone prior to my court date for a lesser amount. My numbers might be off.
