Outlander Book 8 Has a Title!!!
Link here.
(No spoilers in the link don't worry Jo.)
People in the comments are asking about a release date... I HATE her answer...
Dear Angela (et al)?
No, there?s no release date?I won?t finish _writing_ the thing before the end of next year! Having a title is progress, don?t get me wrong {g}?but it?s a good long way from the book being done.

That makes 2013 before it even goes into editing! Freak'n sh!t!!!!! How the helll are we going to wait that long?
Now Jo..... what did you think of the book?
Re: Outlander Book 8 Has a Title!!!
Argh!! 2013?!?! I really need to slow it up to stretch it out so I can make it last.
I started the graphic novel. It's good, not great. I love seeing Jamie's perspective, but from the 2 chapters I read, I still want to know more of what he is thinking.
Spoilers through book 4 and part of book 5 below!! Please don't read if you don't want to know.
Anyway, I really loved Drums of Autumn. I feel like she brought in new characters just when they were needed and still left enough of J&C to make me happy. I love love love Young Ian and hope to see more of him soon. I can't believe he is going to be a dad! I do hope we get to see more of the Murray's at some point. I love them, too. Auntie Jocasta is super manipulative and even though I think she helps a lot of people and seems to treat her slaves reasonably well (taking this in context of the time, obviously), I'm not too fond of her. I'm curious to see if and how long B&R stay. I don't think they'd leave Jemmy, but I would think he would have a pretty good shot of being able to travel since both of his parents did.
Now, on to The Fiery Cross. I'm about 200 pages in. Someone on the book board warned me that it started slow, but I don't think it's as bad as the first book. I'm enjoying. I'm at the point where B&R are seemingly trying to be married by the Protestant minister since the Priest is being shipped off. My biggest thought right now is what is Claire is not getting close to "the change", but is pregnant? I guess I'll have to keep reading to find out, but that would be really wild.
Also, can I just say that I almost passed out when I saw the book 5 was 1300+ pages? I was wondering why the hardbacks were still $20 each online when normal ones are $15 or under online.

The title of book 8 isn't bad. It does seem different than the others, but her reasoning makes sense.
As for waiting until 2013 ... I actually expected that. Remember, I started reading the series in 1996, and at that point, only the first 3 books were out. I've played the waiting game several times in the last 15 years!

I just read the rest of that link (not the comments, because that could really ruin something for me!) and there was a spoiler (it's below, so don't read below or past the first small section of the link if you don't want to know!):
"As for the person who thought someone was going to die in this book?.well, I can give you pretty good odds on that one. I?ve never written a book that didn?t have anybody dying in it. (And fwiw, Jamie?s _been_ dead for at last part of every single book in the series. It isn?t necessarily fatal, you know. {g})"
So, this means that Claire *thinks* Jamie is dead (don't tell me, I don't really want to know
). I will cry.

I don't think any key characters will truly die. I'm still holding onto the hope of a happy ending in1800!

CRAFTY ME
my read shelf:
I'm with Sarah. And I don't really consider that a spoiler since someone always thinks (or in some cases hopes) Jamie is dead.
and Kasi I have been telling you for months you HAVE to read this book. If you like historical fiction I think you will like it. It seriously incorporates so many different genres it is hard to classify this series.
I haven't started the graphic novel yet but I'm looking forward to seeing it from Jamie's perspective though I'm not expecting to like it nearly as much.
I adore young Ian too. I think he is such a great character to add to the mix. He fulfills so many rolls. Jocosta is another character I could take or leave though is important to the story. (Similar to my feelings on LJG though he has grown on me enough to want to read his series.)
Sarah they are totally worth the wait but I don't know how you have done it. I think I'm going to die a slow death while waiting.
I will, I will! I just keep throwing other books in before it!

2012 Reading Challenge
Put this as the next to be read! This book (well, the entire series) is terrific!
I really like the title! I saw a while back that book eight was supposed to be the last book, but I read after the title was released for book eight that DG did not think this will be the last book. :-D I want lots more Jamie (and Claire).
