I know I asked this before, a long time ago.
I had original plans to run a 5k every month this Summer. I never did it, and I've literally only ran one time (this past Sunday!) I want to sign up for a 5k this fall- and a Turkey Trot maybe? Do you guys have that?
Where can I find a good site with all the races listed for the area?

Re: 5k list?
You could search by city, zip etc on www.active.com. I know this is where I've found a lot of events both for biking and running. They have all types of events you could think of on there.
I know for me I did the Detroit Stuffing Strut which is the 5k for the Turkey Trot event. It's a lot of fun and good event to do for a newbie IMO b/c it's an event that is so crowded that it's hard to do it for a any timing records. Plus everyone seems to be in more of the "let's have fun with it" frame of mind.
there are some great 5k's around - what area are you in, or do you mind travelling a bit? DH and I are planning to do a few - including the one at the Detroit Marathon on 10/16 - it actualy doesn;t finish in Ford Field anymore - they changed that about 5 years ago - it finishes near the River Front - it's pretty cool.
there are some great Turkey Trots other than the one in downtown Detroit. DH and I actually stopped going downtown - the crowds are getting ridiculous and I actually think there are TOO MANY people there - DH got pushed and trampled last year in the first mile. there is a fun one on UofM's campus on Thanksgiving day, another good one in Ann arbor in the middle of October, and one on Thanksgiving morning in Canotn at the Summit.
ETA: I am more than happy to give some recommendations basedo n your area if you want, or you can also try www.runmichigan.com - that's where I find a lot of new races
Ohhh, bummer! My favorite part was running through the tunnel onto the field!
Yeah - it was pretty cool running onto the field for the shorter race, but when I did the full, that incline klilled my quads and hamstrings - and then having to walk up the steps out of Ford field was pretty rough too! The finish area is a lot more fun though with an after party and bands and everything with the way they have it set up now though - it's a lot of fun. they switched it to finish in Campus Martias for a couple years and now it's right in front of the Free Press Building.
There's the Big house Bug Heart 5/10K on October 9. You finish at the 50 yard line in the Big House! I did it two years ago and loved it!
Wow! Thanks ladies!!
I'll be living in Canton, or Northville (We got the house!) so anywhere near there would be good.

There's a 5k coming up on September 24th in Northville at Maybury State Park - the Run for colors benefitting local police. Maybury is really nice besides the race there's a petting farm and playgrounds, picnic areas, so you could make it a family thing with your kids. DH and I have it on our radar as a race to do this fall.

There are a ton of 5k's around this time of year in michigan though! and a lot ofthem are really pretty with the colors. I oculd browse runmichigan.com for hours checking out all the races around.
