Diva Cup--Please enlighten me
Ive been perusing the Green Living board more frequently to get ideas on how to tweak my lifestyle to be more earth friendly/reduce chemicals etc. A constant topic there is the Diva Cup. I cant decide if I can get behind this or not. Whats the good word on the Diva Cup from all of you researchers and actual users?

Re: Diva Cup--Please enlighten me
I've read a few posts about it over on the GL board. The girls are always raving about it but for right now, I have decided it is not my cup of tea.
If you still wanted to use tampons, you could buy the ones that are chlorine-free and organic (because cotton is one of the most highly sprayed crops).
Here is a good article with some suggestions (it also mentions the Diva Cup): http://planetgreen.discovery.com/buying-guides/buy-green-tampons.html

Honestly, Im really just having trouble wrapping my head around the idea that you pull that out and wash it, like actually TOUCH it. Im not a germaphobe at all, I just cant get over how that works logistically. I know it sounds silly but Im just hitting a wall at that point. Please give me these gory details.
I was definitely grossed out the first few times. For real. and when I'm scarred I want to talk things out but as you can imagine, no one really wanted to talk about diva cup insertion with me.
But it's not like you need to get up close and personal with the contents... you hold it by the stem or the outside of the cup when you take it in or out, and I always rinse it before washing it with the soap, so the goriness is not really there anymore when it comes to touching the inside part of the cup. I'm trying to be delicate with the descriptions but it's hard!
So do you just dump the ummm "liquid" into the toilet and flush real quick? lol
Yep... I would dump into the toilet. I'm sorry to give TMI but hey, it's the topic's fault! Because the cup holds a lot, I usually don't have to deal with it anywhere except home. I'd be fine handling it in the morning and then in the evening. When I first started using it, I was very confused on how to work with it in a public restroom, but I haven't had to. Some people are really heavy though... I think I'm an average kind of girl in terms of flow. Now you guys are going to meet me and no one will shake my hand, hahahahaha
LOLOL I am very heavy. That wouldbe my concern.
I looked into this too but it freaked me out a bit. I read that depending on your activity level it sometimes "spills" ? How about overnight while sleeping?
Do you feel it while it's inside?
Yeah.. I dunno. I want to like the idea, but I don't think I can.
its not gross, its you.
