LittleP is starting preschool next week. This week is orientation for the parents and one for the kids on Friday morning. The kids orientation is broken into small groups of 2-4 kids, about 30 minutes in the class. Just to get them to meet the teachers and see their new rooms.
We still haven't gotten the room schedules yet, nor the supply list. Nor have we gotten the information about which classroom or teacher our kids have yet. I mean, seriously, it is Wednesday and I am supposed to meet my kid's teacher tomorrow night, but I don't know which teacher. And I am supposed to bring my kid on Friday morning at some time, to somewhere, but apparently I should just guess. WTF??
One of my friends called to find out more info, she found out that kids in a different age level got their info over the weekend. The school secretary told her that she ran out of copies on Friday and couldn't stay to make more, she needed to leave the office early because she had to buy a gift for a baby shower. I'm sorry, WTF???? And she wasn't sure if she would finish by Tuesday, maybe Wednesday. Again, WTF???
Re: WTF Wednesday (9/7)
Oh yes, I have a huge WTF to share.
So, my classes at school start today - but unfortunately, my university that charges an ARM and a freaking leg to attend couldnt agree in their negotiations with the union of the faculty. Which means what? STRIKE.
Now, dont get me wrong. Im a union baby, and my husband is a union ironworker, so we are a HARDCORE union family here and I have no issues with faculty striking, in fact - I totally support them - but the university should have taken care of its students a bit better. They sent emails to students saying that classes are still on, but yet when people went to school today, they found their professors striking out front and were told by the respective departments that they should go home, no classes.
I called the dept and checked on my afternoon class, and its cancelled. AND, how are they going to find other instructors to cover the classes, when that entails crossing the picket line (and we all know thats a no-no) - so there's no winning here.
Frustrating. No idea when we go back, because I was told that they dont know themselves.
*I hope these professors get a major pay increase. This university charges an arm and a leg, gives out free ipads to every student willy nilly and havent given out a pay increase in how long?
OMFG WTF WTF WTF THAT is retarded, I can't believe the secretary actually had the gall to say that to a parent!
And Alisha, WHAT school do you go to that they give ipads to students??? My schools gave me jack ***!
LOL! L.I.U
All you have to do is be a full time student, and walla! A free ipad. I absolutely HATE the ipad, so I gave it to DH. He loves it.
But, cmon..that has to add up. Free ipads for everyone?!
I should not have used the term "retarded" in response to the secretary's behavior. Before I get flamed, I'd like to apologize to anyone I may have offended.
OK, I am joining LIU as a full time student. Actually you have to pay tuition first, so only if I get a full scholarship!
I have a WTF now. Since moving to NY I notice I hardly ever get asked for ID when using my cc. Maybe 1% of the time. Today, at the post office, the lady refused to take my card when I didn't have ID on me (I was going to the gym, and didn't want to take excess items. I wasn't sure how much it was going to cost, and didn't want to be short on cash and not be able to make the purchase. I also didn't want to have excess change clanging in my gym bag while at the gym. So I thought taking cc was the simplest way). Now, I have made many larger purchases without ever being asked for ID (like over $100), yet, for a $4 transaction to mail something, they refuse my card? Keep in mind that post office has never asked for my ID when using a card before! WTF WTF
Maybe I should start harassing cashiers that do not ask for ID when I make a purchase over a certain amount of money.
Oh, so I was really annoyed at them, so instead of going back there, I went to the UPS store where the boys working there are really sweet, and told them I hate USPS. SO then I find out that they were going to charge more than TWICE the amount USPS charges as a service fee. WTF!!! They wanted $10 for the $4 postage. I already had my $5 bill out, and I was like OMG why is it so much, at the post office they said it was $4something. So he said he'd do it for $5 just this once. That was nice of him.
DH and i are waiting for my student loan refund/disbursement, so we can pay rent, bills, and basically live for the next 4 months. But it's taking forever to come!! I finally went to the Bursar's office today and found out what i believed to be true;
-i dropped a class that was 2 credits
-i tried to change one of my 0credit courses to 2 credits (to make up the difference) but it didn't work
-so for a few days it looks like i have 10 credits on my schedule, not the minimum of 12 credits for the loans i'm getting
-a hold has been placed on my disbursement
-i was able to fix the 2credit problem last night
-i won't be getting my loans till next week
-DH doesn't get paid till Friday, so i had to inform my landlord that we're strapped for rent right now, but in 2 days we won't be. So embarassing... :-/
This WTF has more to do with me not realizing that i should have waited a few days to do the whole drop class/change credits...but I wanna say WTF to NYU cuz they always take their sweet-@ss time to let go of money, yet once you owe them they have to have it rightnow. Ugh.

My Planning Bio
Finally! A Married Bio!!
I have a certain document at work that I've been using for every start to the school year. I may make a tweak here and there, change a few words, or make an addition but, overall, this is something that I've used every year since I've started teaching.
I've teamed up with Colleague to work on some things for a course she has never taught before. She and I work well together. I showed her this document. She loved it and asked if I could send her a copy. Sure, no problem!
She took it, made a few minor edits on it and swapped my name for hers. That's fine. I'm glad that she's going to use it in her class. Well, she sends it to our boss when boss asked what "wording" she was using regarding something specific. Boss then sends it to my entire department (!!) as an example with the one line, "Thank You, Colleague!"
W.T.F.
I'm sort of confused because I thought I had mentioned to my boss that I had given it to her. I was so annoyed by this I actually sent a response to this email to my boss saying, "I hope you meant 'Thank You, 315 and Colleague!" considering that I am the one who wrote this." I'm sort of regretting the email but she gets me so I know she'll understand.
I'll have to make mention of being considerate about giving people credit to Colleague tomorrow. I'm not upset at Colleague, really, but I would like some acknowledgement of the work that I did. Am I being petty?
I dont think you were being petty, I think its okay for us to be vocal about letting our bosses know the work we do.
Its okay to want acknowledgment, at least to me it is.
