Recs for sewing classes?

Anyone have recommendations for a sewing class? I am looking into JoAnn's but thought there might be some other ideas too. Thanks!

    I took a class in the Sping at leisure learning. it was a great class. The teacher was Sheri Blifford. Highly recommend her. I took a sewing class from them about 10 years ago and didn't get nearly as much out of it as I didi this time.

    I took classes at Leisure Learning off in the greenway area.  It was once a week for like 2 or 3 weeks.

    I had a crappy leisure learning class, but it obviously depends on the instructor. If the name of the current instructor sounds Russian or Eastern European, stay away. My friend and I skipped the last class because it was so worthless.

    Do you have your own machine? In my opinion you're better off finding a crafting group and learning from a friendly sewer than taking a class. My mother taught me when I was a kid, and I tried classes to learn more. Hated all of them and didn't really learn anything.

    One of my friends is doing the class at Buttons and Bows on memorial.  Looks like the basic sewing classes and open sew times are just during the week so if you work, might not work.
