Rachel Zoe - end of last season

They were replaying some of last season today, and I caught the end of the episode where they go to the obgyn and have a huge fight because Rachel wouldn't have a blood test on the way out.

Why do you think she refused it?  I know later in the episode she said she was scared to slow down her work habits, but it's not like the blood test would have much bearing there - it was a mixed message that she wanted to start preparing but then didn't actually want to?

Then I was thinking of how in the past I've put off stuff like having a tetanus shot because I was too nervous (not to endanger my health.. just procrastinated), so I was wondering if she was actually avoiding a blood test.

It was just odd she made such a huge deal out of it and even tried to make Rodger look bad, but it looked more absurd for her.  I mean obviously they go on to conceive, but I was wondering what everyone else's take / thoughts / guesses/ opinions were on it..

Re: Rachel Zoe - end of last season

  • I'm honestly surprised she got pg and was able to carry the pregnancy, given how very thin she is.  I think they danced a lot around some medical issues (presumably for her privacy, I think).  I think in general she has a high anxiety level.  The entire theme of the show--and this was proven again in last night's premier--is how busy and stressed out their lives are, no matter what is happening.  They never address her eating issues, and while it is possible she eats normally, I don't think so.  Do you think it is possible she had normal periods?  I bet there was a lot of intervention done to get her pg.  Of course, this is just my speculation.
  • I sort of think it was for drama on the show. If you noticed, last season was ALL about Rodger wanting to have a baby and her being hesitant. I think they just played it up in the season finale.

I was thinking something very similar.

  • I only watch this show sporadically, but it's been speculated for years that she has drug problems and eating disorder-related problems.  You would think she would want to squash those rumors, I think it made her look worse to refuse a blood test.
