Question Re: Wedding Dresses

I remember a long time back some of you ladies decided to donate your dresses. I was wondering what organization you donated it too? Also, I was wondering if anyone bought their dresses from one of these organizations? I have a friend who is getting married next summer and she doesn't want to pay a huge amount but would also love to keep it eco-friendly if possible. TIA.

Re: Question Re: Wedding Dresses

  • I bought my dress from the Running of the Brides event that Filene's has. I bought a 100% silk dress, for $268.00.

If your friend goes to an event like that. Tell her to go in expecting to try on dresses and seeing what she likes not "I HAVE to find a dress." If you go in with an open mind you never know what you'll find and you won't be disappointed if you don't' come home with something.

It was a fun and great experience for me.

  • I know one of the popular ones is http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/

I've been meaning to donate my first wedding dress there but always forget because it's boxed up at my moms house.

  • I donated to The Brides Project but I believe they only have one location in Toronto and one in the US somewhere (Michigan maybe?).

I kinda regret that I didn't bother looking there for my dress. A friend had a bad experience and told me not to bother, but I should have given it a chance.
