need sign help ASAP!

Hi everyone! My neighborhood is having a yard sale this weekend (we're hoping that the rain will hold off on Saturday morning!!) and I'm in charge of the signs.

With all this lovely rain, I'm not even going to attempt to put up cardboard or paper signs and I am trying to find some corrugated plastic to make the signs out of (like this:http://www.dickblick.com/products/corrugated-plastic-panels/?wmcp=google&wmcid=products&wmckw=13215-1603). I have never bought it, but I've seen plenty of other home made sign made out of it.

So far I've been to Home Depot, Michaels and Joanns and no one has it. And it's frustrating because no one even seems to know what I'm talking about!

While I was at Michaels I was looking around for something else I could make waterproof signs out of, but the best I could come up with is using regular foam board and wrapping it in clear contact paper...which would still not really be weather proof :-(

Any ideas for where to find the plastic (not online...no time)? Or something else I could use?

Re: need sign help ASAP!

  • Do you know anyone who has a laminating machine?  I don't know how waterproof laminated signs are, but it might be better than nothing.

There's also an A.C. Moore in Bailey's Crossroads; if Michael's doesn't have the corrugated plastic, they probably don't either, but it might be worth a shot.

    Good luck!

  • What about Staples or Office Depot?
  • Also consider Kinko's, we had a sign made out of similar material at work from their print in store line, so maybe they'll sell it to you without the printing.

  • I'd call Plaza Art supply... they might have it?
  • thanks, ladies! after calling a ton of places (including pretty much everywhere you all suggested), I randomly found a sign store in Alexandria that was willing to sell me just the plain sheets/panels at a fairly reasonable price. (shout out to Affordable Signs & Banners--woohoo!!) I'm picking them up tomorrow morning.

I did end up finding an AC Moore that had them, but they were more expensive and I'm working with a tight budget (just neighborhood people pitching in).

    Thanks for all the suggestions!!
