Anyone have friends in N. Carolina that want a cat?

My brother has the biggest heart. They are in N. Carolina visiting my SIL's grandma who has stage 3 cancer. They're staying at a hotel so that they can have a little space with their almost 3 year old little girl, Ava.

They kept seeing a cat outside and Ava wanted to see it and the cat wouldn't run. The cat sat outside their hotel room meowing all night. My brother got up at 2 am - drove to Walmart and bought a kennel, litter box and food and brought it into their hotel room for the night. He says the cat isn't skittish at all. But didn't want Ava to play with it until they got the cat checked out.

They took it to the vet today - it's not chipped. It's about 3 months old and perfectly healthy. The vet can't keep the cat - and apparently all the shelters are full. :(

My brother is contemplating taking this cat back to Alaska because he doesn't have it in him to put the cat back outside. My brother is allergic to cats - I can't believe he's going through all this.

  • Have you tried posting on the Pets board and the NC board? Your brother is so kind... and, setting a good example for his little girl.

Thanks for the reminder - I meant to offer to do this for him and forgot.  Last I heard he was trying to see if some extended family would take the cat.
