If you and H were to take a 10-day vacation, where would you go?
Like I was saying in the post below, the original plan for the next big trip would be to go to Korea since H and his parents haven't been there since he was in elementary school. I don't know the details, but it sounds like H's parents aren't sure about going any more ($ I think), but H still thinks we should take a trip after he graduates in the spring. I still think it's 'important' for H to get to go to Korea and for me to see it, but he doesn't see a point unless his parents (MIL is Korean) also go. So if we don't go to Korea, I don't know where we would go.
Re: Non-clicky poll: travel
We would go to Ireland. If we had the money that is. Both our mother's side of the family came from there and we would love to see it.
And we'd probably check out Scotland and England as well.
my currently-reading shelf:
Well, we're taking a 10-dayish trip to Cabo for our honeymoon.
But our next big vacation will be to visit our really good friend who moved to Hong Kong. We're doing Hong Kong, and then either Indonesia, Thailand, or the Philippines (Palo).
After that, we want to do England, Ireland, and Scotland.
We love to travel.....
Oh yea, we also want to do Budapest and Croatia.
And Belize/Guatamala.
And Brazil.
Sooo long...
Unrealistically? Antarctica. I don't know why, but I'm obsessed with going there.
Realistically? For 10 days I think we'd do Europe again. Maybe Turkey?
I totally went through a phase where I was obsessed with all the expeditions to Antarctica - I think it would be really cool to visit after learning about it.

When might this be?
D and I are planning to go next March or April, funds allowing. To pay our respects to my extended family and then to his in Hong Kong. Would you guys go to Seoul, or does his extended family live elsewhere in the country?
If we had 10 days... I think right now I would just head back to Tahiti. If you've seen How I Met Your Mother this might make more sense, but I liked vacation dreamwinds better. I miss Tahiti. I miss it so much I ache when I think about it.
But D has a weird thing about going any place more than once, so if he has his way, we'd probably head over to Australia.

Why is Antarctica unrealistic?
It's on our list.
I get really, really sea sick very easily and I kind of get panic attacks in rough waters. I couldn't even make it through the Straight on the Clipper without freaking out.
I need to figure out how to nut up and do this. I don't want to let this little fear stop me from getting to Antarctica.
Get a job out there so that they fly you in and out. My best guy friend has summered over in Antarctica twice. Though I hope you don't mind 3 minute shows, twice a week and crap accommodations!
For this trip we just took, we seriously considered Costa Rica and Ireland as other options. I would also love to go back to Italy, and I'd love to go to Australia (it's the last place on my childhood list, plus DH spent a year there about 10-12 years ago).
I'd also really love to go to a few countries in Africa. We have friends from Uganda, Zambia, and Kenya, so I would love to have them take us and show us around.

1st year anniversary in Victoria with a killer whale topiary!
10 days? Paris, if money wasn't an object.
Otherwise, we'd probably do something in the San Fran/Napa region. We loved it there last time we went, and have been dying to go back for a long time.

H is done in April so some time after that, similar time as you! I have no idea where we would go. And I don't even know what kind of extended family is there - all of MIL's siblings are in the US now (I think) and her parents aren't alive. I'm sure we would make a point of going to wherever she grew up though.
jenn - I know 10 days isn't that long, just realistically for most people I thought it was a good amount (sure, I'd love to go somewhere for a month!).

yes, it's definitely a good amount of time..i'm just afraid that if i "touch base" somewhere, i'll have so much more stuff to explore, and 10 days won't nearly be enough, which is why i'm sticking to the east coast
10 days in one place alone would be enough.....but all the places i want to explore have nearby fascinating places that i wouldn't feel satisfied not visiting surrounding areas.

Well, if the trips coincide, we should meet up in Korea! XD I plan on eating myself way through most of our trip, as I do with all our vacations. ^^;
Our list is really long. I'm going to NYC this month and we're going to Mexico again in March.
We'd really like to go to New Zealand, this is where my mother is from. I'd love to visit her family even though we're not close.
We also want to go to Ireland/Scotland. So we'll see if NZ or these come first.
Eventually I want to make it to Italy.
Hopefully a little more travel comes before babies.
Oooh yea you girls reminded me, New Zealand is on our list too. FI went and LOVED it and really wants to take me. We want to do like a 2-week backpacking trip too.
And Australia. My aunt and uncle are living there now.
Yay for Norway! That's what I was going to say. H was born there and his mom is from there, but I've never been and am so stoked to go.

My Norwegian interest stems from my dad's mom's side of the family being Norwegian, and I took a bunch of Scandinavian classes in college. The history and landscape of that area intrigues me so much! I like to think all of the Vikings looked like this:
