  I have a couple of places bookmarked on my home computer; I'll try to post them later. 

  What I wanted to say is that I prefer to pick the Asian Pears now instead of the regular apples!  It's gotten so expensive to go apple picking compared to when I was a kid.  You definitely pay for the experience.

  Mack's Apples in Londonderry, NH (about an hour from Boston) - my husband grew up in Londonderry, and he refuses to go anywhere else if I suggest we go apple picking. (Sidenote: I haven't actually made it there for a bunch of reasons, but he swears by it.)

  Where in MA are you located?

  There are a bunch of orchards in Stow and Bolton off 495 (I linked two for you).

  I have been the place MrsC98 linked in her post in Stow.  Loved it there, not only apples but other fruits there and they make cider, caramel apples, cider donuts and all sorts of pies

  I can't remember where I went before so take this with a grain of salt but I have Smolak Farms bookmarked for some reason

  This site also seems to list a wide variety of pick-your-own places.

  I am going to give a shameless plug for our family's friends farm in Stow. Visit Carver Hill Orchards on Rt 62. It is much quieter than Honeypot which IMHO is overpriced and too crowded. My parent's house is 6 doors up from Nashoba Valley Winery in Bolton, we walk down there to wine taste and pick fruit in the fall. We love it.

  There is also The Big Apple in Wrentham. But I just was looking at their website and I guess they aren't doing pick your own apples this year because of Hurricane Irene - we've actually been there quite a few times and have never picked our own apples.   If you want to head out to Worcester County, Tougas Farms does apple picking as well.

  Thank you all for the recommendations. I talked to MIL last night and Apple Crest is where they use to go, but all these look great.

  Right now I could definitely drink some warm apple cider and would love to have an apple pie or crisp baking in the oven - this rain has got to stop!
