The return of displaced nesties

I saw several people missed our displaced nesties post so here it is. (That said, my work schedule alternates super busy and not busy so I'm liable to forget to post regularly).

If you are displaced tell us where you are at, something you like about where you currently live, and something fun you are looking forward to.

  • I live in just outside Houston TX. I love that I can grow veggies in my garden pretty much year round (but am less than fond of our drought or the "pray for rain" drought solution implemented by gov rick perry). I'm looking forward to officiating a friend's wedding this weekend in san antonio and am totally scared/looking forward to a baby boy in december.

  • Erin, omg congrats!  I got to the part that you are officiating a friend's wedding and thought, that is so awesome and then even more awesome that you are expecting!  Good to "hear" from you again, as well!

Well, our tie to DC is that we lived there for 1 year (or NOVA really) right after we got married.  We moved back home, or where we are now, to Central Virginia because we really wanted our support group of our families.  It's also really central to some great hiking and other great outdoor activities we really enjoy.  I am looking forward to getting our house organized and decluttered - we are going to have a yard sale soon...finally!

  • We're setting in to life in Oregon. Our house and neighborhood are amazing. I really need to get some pics posted here.

I got a part time job back in May and went to full time hours in mid-August, so I got to kick my hateful freelance job to the curb. It's a small company, just me, my boss, one guy in sales and the owners so the benefits aren't great, but the people are amazing and I love going to work every day. The work is interesting if frustrating at times (I'm still in software support/training as with my old freelance job with a little project management thrown in.)

At the moment I am fighting some sort of back/hip/hamstring injury or issue that is causing some pretty painful muscle spasms. I've been in Physical Therapy for 2 weeks and I'm trying to quit the muscle relaxers but it's clearly not time yet as I tried not to take them today and ended up in severe pain tonight. It's frustrating because even just going to the grocery store can be painful, so the last few weekends (including Labor Day) have been spent mostly just resting on the couch and I am *so bored*.

DH likes his job (the reason we moved out) and we've met a lot of nice people. Before I got hurt, we were doing quite a bit of exploring (the Oregon Coast is gorgeous and so strikingly different than the east coast beaches I'm used to), and I can't wait to rehab so I can enjoy the coming fall!

  • Erin - Congrats!!! That's awesome.

Membern - good luck with your yard sale.  I can't believe how big your LO is getting!

C - Good luck in Oregon.  It sounds amazing. I hope your injury gets better so you can get back to enjoying it out there.

I'm up in Massachusetts, north of Boston. I have been so busy with DD that I don't manage to post much anymore but I lurk and try to keep up to date. I have spent the summer finding fun but affordable things to do with my DD.  We are close to the beach and pools and lots of parks.  I was amazed to find so many things to do once I took the time to look.  We are just getting ready to start apple picking season and I can't wait.  I think we may even make the trip out this weekend.
