Runners check in!

Its been awhile..

1) How have you been doing?

2) Upcoming running plans?

3) Why do you or dont you like running in the fall?

Re: Runners check in!

  • 1) How have you been doing? I've been feeling kind of tired lately, but still trying to get in some runs. I missed my long run this weekend though. Last night was long hill repeats.

    2) Upcoming running plans? This weekend I'll be running 10 miles. My furthest distance yet!

    3) Why do you or dont you like running in the fall? I'm looking forward to the weather cooling a bit. Hot + running = ugh. Also looking forward to the Nike Women's Marathon that's a little over a month away!

  • Good! I ran 3.5 miles on Monday...pain free! I am excited!!

I will run 4 miles on Sunday. Then I have a race the following Sunday (9/18). I can not wait. I hope it is better than the one I ran back in March!

I love running in the Fall. Cool mornings are the best and even if I do not get a morning run in, there is still the evening. The only downside is that it is getting darker earlier. boo.

  • 1) I've been running about 3 days a week. For me, I've gotten a lot slower as my pregnancy progresses. Its a hard adjustment for me, but I care more about doing the distance than how fast I do it. I hope to keep running 3 times a week until at least 36 weeks. I am running about 3-5 miles at a time right now. I'd like to get back to 6, but not sure if its too late now.

    2)   I hope to get a few runs in this week.. maybe 6 miles on one run if I'm lucky, but I'm going out of town this weekend, so probably not.

    3) I love being able to sleep in and then go for a run in the cool air. I dont like that I will lose daylight though.. so that means no running at night soon.

  • 1. Not good, my kid has been sick and now I am getting sick so I have only down about 10 miles in the last week.

    2. To get back to it as soon as possible sick I am not running while sick, last thing I need is to make this worse.

    3. I prefer it because I prefer the cooler temperatures, I hate it because I hate how early it gets dark, so I think I will be doing more treadmill runs because I can't get a run in until EJ goes to bed unless I get my act together to do it in the mornings with him since I do homework during his naps.

  • 1) How have you been doing?  I'm so embarrassed to admit this, but I've completely quit running due to over-training for a swim I've got in 2 weeks.

    2) Upcoming running plans?  None until after the swim season is over.

    3) Why do you or dont you like running in the fall?  If the temp would go down, I love to run in the cooler temperatures.  But I hate that my morning run will have to be pushed back due to how late it gets light out.

  • 1) How have you been doing?  Pretty good!  1/2 marathon training is well underway and my previous ailments have gone by the wayside.  My 10 mile run last Saturday felt really good!  As well as it's going, I'm looking forward to a break in the training.

    2) Upcoming running plans?  I did 5.5 on Monday, 5 yesterday, 5 tomorrow, and 10.5 on Saturday.  Almost a repeat of that next week.

    3) Why do you or dont you like running in the fall? Like others, I like being able to run later in the morning on weekend instead of hitting the pavement to avoid scorching heat.  The lack of daylight is my dislike.

  • 1) How have you been doing? So-so. I've been letting life get in the way of my running. But we actually just brought home a treadmill tonight and I know it will help! It's been too dark for me to go running at night (we live in an area with lots of wildlife) so I've been scared to go out too late after work. I'm actually hoping to move my workouts to the morning now.

    2) Upcoming running plans? Well, I have a 10K this weekend that I haven't trained for very well. I'm a little nervous but just plan to take is slow and focus on finishing - not on the time.

    3) Why do you or dont you like running in the fall? I haven't ran yet in the fall! But like I said above, the shorter days are already inconveniencing me. I will need to get a good rain jacket soon too since I don't plan on just running indoors for the next 6-8 months.

  •  Even though I'm just starting out on C25k I'm gonna go ahead and post :)

    1) How have you been doing? Labor Day at around 6:30am DH and I did our first day of C25k. I've never done running before aside from the mile in HS (over a decade ago) so it was quite a new experience for me. I'm fairly thin but SO not in shape and I was surprised at how tough it was for me. I really enjoyed it though and after we got back I was really energized and practically ready to do it again. It's really gorgeous in the morning and so crisp and quiet. At around 11am I *totally* crashed and had to nap for a few hours. My body is definitely not used to it. Since then I've been having fairly severe soreness (legs, abs, groin, parts of back). I thought I stretched well before the run, but didn't stretch after. I'll have to see how tomorrow goes.

    2) Upcoming running plans? Doing Day 2 tomorrow and Day 3 on Sunday and then I'll have the first week under my belt. It'll be my first before-work run tomorrow and I'm hoping it will go smoothly. I'm hoping it won't be too dark :( and that I won't be ridiculously tired again come lunchtime! Not sure how to combat that and I don't drink coffee.

    3) Why do you or dont you like running in the fall? I haven't run in the fall (haha or any other season) and didn't even think about the AM light thing. Not sure I like that or what to do about it, but I am not looking forward to running in the dark. I don't think where we run now is going to be very illuminated. I guess I'll have to play it by ear. I DID like the cool, crisp, quiet morning though!

  • 1) How have you been doing?

My running has gone on hold right now, but for good cause. I had intended this fall to try to do a half marathon, but instead I decided to focus on something that I NEED to do. Running is great, but not something I NEED to do. So, what is this "need"? Swimming. I never learned to swim. So, with a bit of aquaphobia - wouldn't put my head in the water and wouldn't let go of the side of the pool or take my feet off the bottom of the pool - I contacted a swim instructor who specializes in adults. So, for the past 1.5mos or so, I've been at the pool 2-3xs per week learning to swim. I can't say it's been easy, but I've made leaps and bounds from where I was before. I'm really proud of my accomplishment thus far. I have a few more weeks of lessons left.

    2) Upcoming running plans?

Hopefully late fall/winter I'll start picking up on the running again.

    3) Why do you or dont you like running in the fall?

I don't mind it. Fall is one of my favorite times of year.
