Moms--HELP!! international travel with baby...

I am in Singapore for a month with my DS who is 10 months old.  We came bcause Dh had to come for work and we thought it would be best if we all came.  DS has been a mess since we left home.  He stopped eatting solids, got horrible diahreah and a high fever and was sick for 3 days and is also cutting his top two teeth.  He isn't sleeping for more than 2.5 hours during the night before he wakes up so I feel like he isn't getting any solid sleep.  He has been miserable since we have left home. I have huge mommy guilt right now for doing this trip.....I wish we hadn't come on the trip.  Any advice?  Have you been in a similar situation?

  • The fever, not eating and diarrhea could be related to the teething. I am sure he will adjust, but I know how hard it is. If you are really worried I would take him to the doctor. How long have you been there? Try to spend time outside, that will help with any jet lag and could help him overall.

  • Is your baby still drinking breast milk or formula? My LO had travellers diarrhea when we came back from the states. When we went to the doctor the suggested we stop the Regular formula we were using and switch to a brand called Novolac AD. Regular formula will just make the diarrhea worse. He also suggested getting Pedialyte/ Hydralyte. Your LO could be cranky due to the diarrhea issues. I would suggest getting him to a doctor. Call your insurance see who the recommend in Singapore. Good luck! Dealing with a sick baby away from home is rough. I hope they get better soon.

  • He is breastfed.  I took him to the dr and they offered advice on keeping him hydrated, made sure nothing major was wrong, etc.  He seems to be doing better today---with the exception of the teething :(  When it rains it pours!
