Just wondering, I am 100% pro- vac. If you do a modified schedule share please

I am leery about the number of shots lo are given at one time.

Nope, but for some I wish I had... the boys each had five shots one trip, I didn't realize it until they had already done one kiddo... it was so hard to watch! Luckily it was when they were little so hopefully they don't remember!

No we didn't but I guess I feel better that they were all done at once. Then they don't have to go back and be poked again

To add to it, I had a friend who did modified and only did one vaccine at a time... her kids were starting kindergarten and still getting shots and HATED going to the doctor because they were so afraid of getting shots... kicking screaming biting... terrified... I am glad that now when we go they don't have to get any or only get one and don't remember what it was like getting 5 at a time!

I feel like it is better to get them done at once rather than go back each week or a month or whatever. Also, Abe had to have certain ones done to get into DCP. I didn't even have to worry or wonder because I knew he had them.

My kids do the regular vaccination schedule, but I have a friend who does the modified schedule. It's a total PITA because she brings her baby every month to get a shot...I think she followed "The Vaccine Book" by Dr. Sears' son.

I was totally for the modifiedbut decided not too. There are a couple that my Dr doesn't do all at the same tome anyways. Most recent that comes to mind is the flu shot, we came back a separate time for that rather than pile it on top of the others

I wanted to do a somewhat modified vacc schedule but decided since she's going to daycare that it would be safer to do within the range that they currently do it.

We do a modified schedule. They do not get more than 1-2 shots at a time, depending on the vaccinations. The first few months it was only 1 shot at a time starting at 2 months, except for the vitiman K at the hospital (we declined Hep B at birth). Then around 6 months they would usually get 2 at a time. We did have a few more visits then normal, some were just nurse visits for a shot but it worked for us. I read Dr. Sears The Vaccine Book and used his modified schedule as a guideline but changed some things as well. I thought this book was really helpful, I loved how it talked about each shot individually I found it really interested to read about each different shot.

Oh and I also don't do the combo shots (where a few different shots are combined so they only get one prick). I request that they be broken into the individual shots. Except the MMR when Grace had that, we did do that as a combo. I know this means more stabs for my poor children......they likely hate me

This is kind of my thought. I'd rather have a handful at once than have to go back every month. Plus I wanted her as immune as possible as quickly as possible since I work with infectious specimens at work and she could potentially be exposed.

I'm coming into this late.. For Luke we declined Hep B and my plan was to modify. I never had time to research or find out how to modify. So when Sam came I just accepted what they said, sadly, I'm too busy to go back time and time again so I just had them catch Luke up too. I think in my mind I wanted to have some control and not do too many at once, but as with a lot of my parenting decisions I have to defer to others because I don't know and I don't have time to educate myself. I know that sounds like a cop-out and I'm a bit ashamed to say it, but its true.

Our pediatricians won't allow it. On their website, they state that they believe the guidelines are set by the AAP for a reason, and if you'd like to modify you are welcome to take your child elsewhere.
