This is the shipment from hell.

These clothes are so not worth it.  First I get a package left on my doorstep by USPS, which promptly got stolen.  EFF our mailperson, we have asked repeatedly that they not leave packages at our door since there is an office close by that will safely hold our packages.  But, ok, Gap is willing to re-ship it for free if I just wait a few days.

Then it gets mailed by FedEx, so I think, awesome!  But no, it requires an effing direct signature, meaning I have to be home to sign it.  Ok, I leave early (2:30) today since usually FedEx gets to my house around 4.  Nope.  They were there at 1 pm.  I can't sign the effing form and have them leave it, I have to get them to hold the package and drive to the effing FedEx location 20 minutes away.  My driver didn't write a damn thing on the door tag so I have to check it out online.

But no, I can't do that online, so I have to call and talk to their stupid automated operator which tells me to just track my package online and do it myself.  NO, twatwaffle robot, I tried that already.  Finally I talk to a human being who cheerfully tells me that they will try two more times, all I have to do is sit around my house all day waiting for the driver to show up.  Um, no.  I convince her to hold my package (still not ideal) and find out I have to wait til 6 pm to go get it.  Right, when traffic is at its worst - it will be the same route I took this morning (50 minutes for 8.5 miles), but even further.  Go eff yourself Gap, USPS, and FedEx.  I am never ordering anything from Gap again.

Today effing sucks.  Now I'm going to go sit in traffic and pick Jeff up, so he doesn't have to spend two hours getting home in the miserable rain.   Where the hell is my cake?  I need to self-medicate this rage, my eye is starting to twitch.

p.s. I hope you all know I'm just venting.

  • Heh I have the opposite problem with Gap / Banana Republic shipments.  I want them to leave packages at my house but they always take them back to the post office where I have to go pick them up!  So annoying!!

  • Now this seems sort of trivial, considering our apartment might flood tonight Indifferent

  • The water got a few feet from our back door, then eventually receded. However, it's supposed to rain all night and tomorrow, so we got everything off of the floor and unplugged everything - except the TV, which we will unplug before bed.  Luckily I moved the car before our space flooded - guess I'm glad I went home early to get that package!  I was rushing around like crazy, getting everything out of the way of the potential water and checking the water, watching it creep up our back walkway.

Oh my, you've had quite the day. I hope you're drinking heavily tonight and no water gets into your apartment.

  • Eeek on the flooding Laura, hope all is still dry.

I don't know if you saw my FB post about our latest shipment.... tracking it shows that it goes to all the towns surrounding us, and it's STILL not here. Stupid Amazon. It only came from KY and it was ordered over a week ago. I guess that's what I get for using the free shipping. Apparently that's also why shipping costs are so high. Makes no sense whatsoever most of the time.

  • Sorry dying laughing at twatwaffle robot.

You are always having shipping issues! Why don't you get the stuff shipped to work?

I used to at my old job, but this job really frowns upon it, plus the secretaries have told me that stuff often gets stolen if it's obviously retail stuff, because it goes to a big processing center at the university, handled by a ton of people, so no one would know who took it...an easy way to get free presents!  I am not ordering stuff from Gap anymore though, now that I know they use USPS - that's where I usually have issues.

Everything is fine now regarding the flooding.   The water receded amazingly fast - it's scary how quickly everything happened!  They are still calling for rain, though, so everything we own is piled on top of all of our furniture and it's driving me nuts.  Can't wait to get that cleaned up!  There were people in my complex who did get flooded, and walking to the subway this morning I saw maintenance crews tearing out carpets, flooring, etc...makes me feel like an azz for complaining.  We dug into our anniversary cake last night and it was awesome.  Contemplated drinking, but wanted to be sober in case we needed to drive to my uncle's if the flooding got worse.

  • It also pisses me off that Gap and Old Navy use USPS. So hard to retrieve lost packages from them.

I used to ship stuff to my job, but now that I take the train I don't do that. I do not need to be carrying another bag.

Also a good point.  Carrying anything other than my purse and lunch bag on the subway is such an ordeal; I hate days when I need to bring my laptop home.
