Pregnancy questions

How many spotted off and on their whole pregnancy?

Twice now...I go in for US and everything is fine. Spotted again last night, called the Dr and when they call back tomorrow I"m gonna ask for them to check my progesterone levels since all three times have been since. What would be reasons for spotting if "everything is fine?". I'm gonna ask tomorrow too, but I'm guessing I should keep calling every time correct?

I know there are other gals worse off than me and I can not even imagine as I feel like I've been on one huge emotional roller coaster. I'm trying not to be a complainer as I know it can be worse but its just frustrating :) Trying my hardest to stay positive! My poor DH! :)

Thanks gals, appreciate all the feedback and I'm sure more questions to come!

Re: Pregnancy questions

  • A lot of things can cause spotting throughout pregnancy--position of placenta, a slight placental bleed, irritation---etc.  Lots of people have healthy pregnancies with spotting-although it is obviously super scary when it happens to you.  I would have called as well.  Likely they will check for bleeds etc when you go in.

  • Spotting for me occurred when I overdid things physically and didn't take it as easy on my body as I should have.
  • I didn't have any spotting, so no advice there, but I just wanted to say that you are right to always call your dr.  Also, to say T&P for you.
  • I had spotting on a couple occasions with both pregnancies...happened more when I overdid things and didn't drink enough water.  Defintiely take it easy.  And I called my dr. each time it happened so you are doing the right thing there-
  • I spotted throughout my pregnancy.  I worried until I just got used to it.  And it was always brown (old) blood so I kind of got over it.

    Good luck!

  • I had a friend who spotted her entire pregnancy -- she didn't know she was pregnant because she thought she was having light periods! She finally tested because she thought it was weird they were so light, and only a day or two - and was 4 months pregnant!

I say it's always best to call your OB - even if the concern seems "stupid" to you. My OB always said "This is why I'm here. Call anytime." (Even when I called one time at 3 in the morning, he was really sweet and very reassuring)
