Carseat Questions

* When do you move the straps up in the infant carrier? B is higher than the low one, but about 1 1/2" below the high one. Do I keep it on the low one or move him up and keep it tight?

* Target has 2 convertible carseats on sale this week -- Graco My Ride 65 and Britax Roundabout 50. Any reviews on either of these? They are both on sale for $100, so we're probably going to get one now because I think he is going to surpass length in his infant carrier before any Black Friday sales. Also, where can I find the safety ratings? I tried googling, but could only find reviews and I want the actual safety reports.

Re: Carseat Questions

  • * Since he is rear-facing still, his straps need to be right at or below his shoulders. They cannot be above.

    * There are no safety ratings. Every seat meats the same standards, etc. Some seats just have more bells and whistles than others, are more well known, etc. Both of those company score high on ease of use ratings, and get really good reviews. However, since they are the same price, I would go with the Britax.

ETA: Could you go to BRU and try them out in your car? Seriously, they are both really good seats. I have had an issue installing the My Ride rear-facing, which seems to be a common issue, but a lot of people love it. I know Robyn has one. Another con that I have heard about is that once it is forward facing the recline bothers some kids.

The RA 50 has 3 crotch strap spots too, which I think can be especially good for boys. It also tethers rear-facing, which is a feature that I love.

You really can't go wrong with either. If the MR 65 was cheaper, then I would suggest it, but since they are they same I would go with Britax.
