S/O Gyno & BC refills
Do some doctors really still refuse to refill your BC prescription if you can't get in for a visit?
Re: S/O Gyno & BC refills
My bc is depo and mine won't give me a shot unless if I see her for my annual every 11-13 months. I think it has more to do with my bone density and other stuff though.
I might have gone apesh!t on the nurse at the office because I wasn't able to keep my original appt and she suggested I come in the following week and do my annual and shot then. I freaked out and started telling her about a friend of a friend who got pg on depo and how I didn't want a baby.
She was able to fit me in today.
Wow - I didn't realize they were still doing Depo shots, to be honest.
And to add to your ammo for next time you need to go off on your gyno for an appt. My best friend got PG on Depo.
I'm one of those people who shouldn't be on it any more (almost 11 years now), but I refuse to get off of it, so I have to do bone density scans every year and a bunch of other tests.
Uhm... yeah, I don't like hearing that your friend got pg too.
yes, i think so. mine wouldn't but i'd prob have to make an appt...

jumped ship to the new and improved nest. back to TB for baby boards.
Don't joke about these things! I am more scared of getting pg than I am of getting cancer.
i was on it for over 2 years.. and they wouldn't give it to me any more unless i got off of it for a full year.
11 years is a ton!
I tapped out at 10 years when I was 24 and just decided to go with something else because my insurance wouldn't pay for any of the scans or additional testing and I was uncertain if/when I wanted kids at that age.
oh and to answer *this* question. yes, dr's refuse w/o an annual.

this is probably flameable... but you know, there are other options for unplanned children if God forbid you got preg.
I'm pretty sure I'd have to go down that path because I'm on other medication that can cause serious birth defects.
And I don't want kids that look like Hobbits.
Wow - okay. All the offices I've ever been to would refill for a set amount of time and then schedule your annual.
This came out way more politically correct than what I was just about to post. Thank you
now that I'm sexually active, she says to come in ever 2 years. When I wasn't sexually active I didn't have a gyno exam (I went in for an annual growing up for other things - height, weight, etc).

Yep, this is on the list of things to talk about today.
Will you share what they say? I've heard a lot about them not wanting to do it for women still in their 20's.
My doc and I have talked about this here and there for the past year and a half or so. She said that if I want it then she'll do it. It's just taking a while for us to come up with a good plan of attack on how to do it.
H says he'll get snipped, but I want to be the sterile one and I want her to do something so that Aunt Flo never comes again.
TMI alert: My tubes are too small to fit springs in and she's not comfortable tieing my tubes because of their size either. (She thinks they're retie themselves.)
I go in every 3 years for my pap, so no annual for me
And I now have an IUD, so no BC refills, woohoo!
My dr. will fill my prescription but usually wants me to come in soonish after but ive never had an abnormal pap and ive been on the same pill for awhile.
When i went in last year for my yearly physical/pap my dr. said that a pap was only required every 2 years now, but i still want to get it yearly just to be on the safe side.
IUD for me too! Love it! Before I had to go in every 3 months... It was lame! Like most things - the doc will give you 1 refill pending an appt.
I have gotten out of girlie exam and getting BC. If you have clear pap's for a couple years you can usually skip one if you want. Last time I tried to get out of it but no such luck... It was ok though, she found a mole on my butt that was bad news.
I have never been to a gyn before... I just go to my primary care for everything.
i
living where we live. choice, options......
EIP and therickson--how much do you love the IUD? tell me all about it. how long have you been on it, why did you choose this over pill, depo, etc? i wanted to do this a long time ago (way before i discovered TK/TN) and i mass emailed every single one of my female friends.....nobody had ever done it before, so it scared the crap out of me.

I hated my Mirena a lot.... my stupid hormones got all screwed up... here are some of the issues i had with it:
Horrible acne, facial hair, BO, lots of spotting, painful ovarian cysts
The insertion was horrible also... but I hear its better after having a baby.
this scares me.
