Holy insta-frost, Batman!

It was 98 with a heat index that made it feel like 104 on Friday. Then a cold front came in, and over night it dropped to the 50s with no humidity. We refuse to turn the heat on, so I'm sitting on the couch with a blanket and the laptop on my lap, and the cat has curled up in a ball next to me to suck up some heat. I don't mind a drop in temps, and I'm happy there's no humidity, but couldn't it have gone a tad slower so it wouldn't have been such a shock? D@mn.

How are all of you holding up? Everyone make it ok through Irene?

Re: Holy insta-frost, Batman!

  • The cold was a shock, but it has been such a nice change!  We don't have A/C at work so it was very welcome, it can't get too cold though because they won't turn the heat on until November.

  • We were fine through Irene - we're inland enough that we only got a little rain.

This week however, it has been raining since sunday evening and the town I live in is starting to flood. I practically had to drive through a river to get to work this morning. And it's not expected to let up until tomorrow night. ugh.

  • I'm loving the cooler weather!  it was a nasty hot and humid summer here!

  • Very true. It's getting warmer in here since Zach came home and opened all the windows up. Not much, but a tad. I think my issue may also be from this sinus infection - seems like whenever I get sick, my body temp plummets.

Glad you're ok! Hope the rain stops soon for you - we've only flooded once here, and driving through it was no fun, especially in my lowered truck. Ick.

  • I'm in Becca's boat...by tomorrow night I may wish literally to be in a boat.  We had an early dismissal from school because they were anticipating major flooding on the roads to and from our building.  Luckily it left up for the afternoon, but downpours are expected tonight as well.  The head maintenance man at our school said we'd already had about 10 inches since yesterday morning, and since we are surrounded by creeks at work no one really expects to go tomorrow...and at home we live 5 blocks from the river and have several inches of water in our basement and it is going up.

  • We are have VERY un-seasonably cool weather (like mid-70's).  It's usually 90 degrees or higher through the end of Oct, but we had a tropical storm (Lee) pass us over the weekend that brought some cool (to us) temps.  It's 80 degrees and feels like Thanksgiving!  Ah, life on the gulf coast...
  • Yeah it's been cold and rainy. If I could curl up in a blanket and nap/read all day that'd be great.

On the plus side it's supposed to be sunny and 80 this weekend.

  • According to the forecast (just checked) we're looking at thunderstorms all weekend long, but it'll supposedly be back up in the mid 80s after that. I almost kicked the heat on today, just to warm it up in here a bit - we're surrounded by trees, so the house is always shaded, and makes it feel 10 degrees cooler than it actually is.
