Its bad here. Really bad. The river is supposed to crest at 29 feet on Saturday but they keep upping it every hour. Yesterday they were saying only 24 feet. The worst flood we have on record was in 1972 and that crested at 32.5 feet. It concerns me because there is a lot more development than there was in 1972 and I fear a lot of homes are going to be lost.
They had to euthanize some animals at the zoo, which makes me really sad. And the Pizza Hut a few miles from Andys Grandparents house (and across the street from where Wyatt was born) collapsed yesterday.
Here are some photos from one of the TV stations.

How is everyone else in the northeast doing?
Re: Flooding
Omg that's so crazy and sad:(
We have some flood warnings here, but nothing near me has really been affected yet, as far as I know.

Wow, Stees, that is crazy. I hope you stay safe, as well as Kristen and Wyatt. It is so eerie seeing your town threatened like that. Keep us posted!
There are a lot of local roads flooded and closed here, lots of people had trouble getting into work today. Most of the problems are in areas with poor drainage. There are river flooding concerns, but I haven't heard the latest in terms of specific rivers/towns. We have a river located just beyond our backyard, but have never had a problem (there is a large spillway downstream a bit), but it still makes me nervous...
stay safe my friend! And the poor animals......
Lots of raining still -- there were torrential downpours earlier, and it made the water running down the hills look like rivers. Roads are starting to flood, and I'm so thankful that we live at the top of a hill. I don't know about any warnings yet, but I can see them coming if this holds up...
Be safe!

I read that about the animals last night- I can't believe it!
We're flooding- I live about 18 blocks from the river, but luckily on a huge hill.
So, the verdict is not that bad now, but not looking forward to what happens after 2 more days of rain.
Stand up for something you believe in.
I'm not home in Philly now... But Dan said 76 going in AND out of the city was closed... Easbound side because of flooding and the westbound because of fallen tree. It took him 3 hours to get to work, what would normally be a 25 min commute.
I have no idea what the Schuylkill is doing to Manayunk... But I know a lot of the creeks going into it are flooded and closed off roads. It's a freaking mess.
My Acme Box last update 3/28/11
Had to leave work (about 35 minutes up 15N) early, which I know pissed people off - but lots of 15 is closed here and they are evacuating the south end of my town. I wanted to get home while I still could, and be here to take the dogs with me if we have to move to higher ground. Mark is in a conference in State College... hopefully he can leave early and take the back way home, since a lot of 80 (the major highway between there and here) is closed in spots.
I spent last night loading a Uhal with paper products from my dad's print shop because it is right next to the creek and got 2 1/2 feet of water in it during the flood in 2006. Thankfully, we made out okay and only 1/4" of water came up through the floor boards last night. The bridge down the street from my house is currently being erroded as large branches and trees keep running into it. Luckily (or not, depending on which way you look at it) that is not the road I take to go to work, so I was able to make it in today. The hopsital has been really really busy, as expected.
Right now I"m so concerned about friends I have in Binghamton. So far they're safe, but it is so scary and insane to look at it. Joel and I just drove through there on our way back from NJ on Monday, so insane to see all that water over familiar roadways and stores. The BabiesRUs that we shop at is half under water that this point. So many people I work with have lost their homes and all their belongings as well as farmers who have lost crops and livestock. One guy had to seek shelter in the rafters of his barn and had to listen to all of his cows drowning.
