daily: spray and wipe kitchen counters, sweep floor in kitchen and where you eat, load dishwasher/clean sink, put back everything when finished doing an activity.

weekly: bathroom- toilets, floors, vanity, sink, trash removal- basically when filled, vaccum all carpet, clean kitchen sinks, sweep floors, shark/steam mop floors,

monthly: windex all glass, wash floors on hands and knees, baseboards, clean fan blades, clean and scrub refrigerator, wipe all wood furniture with cleaner, wipe kitchen cabinets down, wipe handles and hardware on cabinets, clean dishwasher

I have been trying to work on getting myself into a cleaning schedule, because it seems like I always put things off until we are expecting guests, and then I'm running around in a mad cleaning frenzy!  Anyway, this is my weekly, monthy, quarterly, and semi-annual (spring and fall) cleaning list.  Sorry, it's kinda long.. :/

    Weekly

Sunday: Grocery/Supply Shopping & Prepare Meals - (I'm trying to get myself on a schedule of making a few meals per week that can be put in the freezer to save time during the week)

Monday: Kitchen & Side Entry - clean countertops, clean microwave, sweep and steam mop floor, shake out and/or vacuum rugs, clean side entry (dust, mop floor, vacuum rugs), sweep and/or vacuum stairs

Tuesday: Laundry Room & Misc - empty garbage, sweep, vacuum rug, take garbage to the curb, drop off recycling

Wednesday: Living Room, Dining Room & Front Entry - dust & windex, clean bottom of chair legs (nasty, but dog hair likes to stick to the bottom of them..), sweep/vacuum/mop floor, shake/vaccum rugs

Thursday: Bathrooms - clean tub & shower, clean sink & countertops, clean toilets, sweep & scrub floor, shake/vacuum rugs, empty/clean garbage can

Friday: Bedrooms - change sheets, dust & windex, sweep/vacuum/mop floors

    Saturday: Day off!!! :)

    Monthly

Bathrooms: wash rugs, wash shower curtain liner, clean light fixture

Bedrooms: clean light fixtures/ceiling fan, clean under beds, wash coverlets/duvets/comforters

Living Room/Dining Room: clean under furniture, clean under/behind tv, clean light fixtures/ceiling fan

Kitchen: clean cabinet fronts/appliance fronts & tops, clean stove drip pans, clean inside/outside garbage can, wash rugs

Basement: (only clean this on a monthly basis, as we are never down there..) dust & windex, sweep

Laundry Room: clean washer & dryer fronts/sides/tops, clean sink

Misc: clean trim & mouldings on interior doors throughout the entire house, clean/sanitize stairs (they are hard wood stairs that our dogs use often)

    Quarterly

Bathrooms: clean inside cabinets/medicine cabinets, clean fan vent, wash shower curtain

    Bedrooms: wash mattress pads

    Living Room: wash curtains

Kitchen: clean inside fridge/freezer, wipeout & cycle clean dishwasher

Basement: clean under all furniture and mop floor

Laundry Room: cycle clean washer/wipe clean inside of dryer

Misc: change furnace filter, vacuum vents throughout entire house

    Spring/Fall

Bedrooms: wash bedskirts, rotate/flip mattresses, clean inside closets

Kitchen: clean under appliances, clean inside oven, january - clean inside cabinets/drawers

Misc: clean inside/outside of exterior doors, clean inside/outside all windows, clean out & weed window wells, till & plant or winterize garden, clean off deck/get ready for season

Again, sorry this was so long!  Hope it helps though.  I could still use suggestions myself as I just put this list together recently so I'm not sure if it will stay this way/if I'm missing anything.  :)

  • Fly Lady has a nice way of organizing her daily/weekly chores.  My daily/weekly are basically the same as the others.  My monthly chores are things like windows, light fixtures, under heavy furniture, wiping down baseboards, decluttering etc.

BEST starting point!  Someone here recommended the above link from iheartorganizing

The schedule breaks cleaning into:  daily, weekly, monthly quarterly and annually.

I modified mine based on our own homes needs.  My home has never remained so clean...going on 2 weeks now.

  • I'm much more specific about my daily cleaning since my son is at the age where he can and does get into everything.

    Daily:

Wipe down everything!  Vacuum and mop floors.  Laundry.  Make the beds.

    Weekly:

Throughly clean bathrooms.  Polish furniture.  Wash rugs (they are off white so they are always juice stained by Sunday.)  Clean fan blades.  Alcohol all light switches and door knobs.

Other than that I refer back to my Martha Stuart home bible.
