I joined the pet owner's club
And I've never been so tired as today. DH takes him out of his crate every time he makes a peep at night to go outside. He did really well the first night and made it 5 hours. I think DH is getting up too much, but we're at opposite ends of the spectrum. Hoping that this phase passes quickly...

So you're smack dab in the middle of the puppy stage!
As a rule of thumb you take the age of the puppy in months and add 1 to get the total number of hours they should go between potty breaks. So for Nico that would be 3-4 hours.
My cousin and his wife have a mini schnauzer and he is CRAZY. I recommend lots of exercise!!!! :-)
If he ever sits still for you I'd love to see more pictures! :-)

I am no dog expert, but I got my first puppy about 2 years ago. We did the same thing, and brought her out about every 2-3 hours at first, even though she didn't make noise or indicate she had to go out. We always said 'we're going to go outside' and then bring her out. We had heard that by doing this, they realize that outside is the only place to go to the bathroom.
No lie, 2 years later, and Daisy has never had an accident inside. So I would continue with your strategy if at all possible!
