BR: Recommend your high chair, please!

We have a space saver high chair right now that we like. We're going to get one more and then get Nolan a "big" high chair. There are only about 200 or so to choose from on BRU, so of course I'm just going to ask you for your recommendations. Thanks ladies! :)

Re: BR: Recommend your high chair, please!

  • We only used the space saver type. Around Alex's first birthday we got her a little table and chairs, and she hasn't used the high chair since (she fought being strapped into the high chair at that point, so we needed another solution). Now she'll sometimes want to eat at the big table with us, or try to get us to sit on her chair at her table.
  • We have the space saver too I like not havIng another piece of baby equipment in place of a chair, I've heard good things about the chicco ones.

  • We have this and were happy with it for what it was. While it served its purpose, if we had to do it again, we would have skipped it. Collin was only in it a few months before he wanted no parts of it and to be at the table with the rest of us. My guess is, by the time the babies are here and near ready for a high chair, Nolan will be already fighting the high chair and may be ready for a booster.

True. I guess I was thinking down the road to about when the babies are 4 months or so and starting to sit at the table with us for dinner (don't you like how I'm assuming we'll be in such a great routine where we can do that? haha)... and we only have 4 chairs. Maybe I'll quit stressing about something so far in advance and wait until the time comes to decide. ;)

  • If you figure out a way to stop stressing will you send it my way :0)

  • We started with the space saver but switched to the cheap ikea high chair. It is all plastic so it is way easier to clean up when Charlie tries to hide his food. The tray is separate to buy (and like $5) and sometimes we just pull him up to the table without the tray.

  • We have the Keekaroo Height Right Chair and love it.  We don't use the tray anymore and I removed the straps so it's pretty much just a regular chair at our table but it's adjusted to the perfect height for Kodi.  He can easily climb in and out of the chair by himself.

  • We have this high chair http://www.amazon.com/Graco-Diner-High-Chair-Carlisle/dp/B004NTC7UK/ref=sr_1_3?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1315565398&sr=1-3

I liked that it could either be a stand up high chair or it can also be one like the space savers.  It was perfect for us so when we travel we just brought the seat.  Also, when we go to my Mom's, we don't have to figure out a way to feed her.  It's worked well for us.

  • I actually really hate the big high chairs.  We have Abby sitting on a regular chair or a cooshee booster seat.  There is just no room for two high chairs!  LOL  We have a space saver and a regular one.  I like the space saver way better, but if you are at a loss of seats to put them on we have the Fisher Price Rainforest high chair.

I am going to add that we didn't worry about getting high chairs until the girls were 5 months old because we didn't even start solids until they were 6 months old.  You definitely have more to worry about right now than high chairs, so I'd wait :-)

  • Slightly different idea, but my cousin recently went to a restaurant supply store and picked up one of those wooden high chairs for about $40...... she loves it because it was cheap, easy to wipe down and clean, and its the perfect height for her kitchen/dining room table.

  • I got a Chicco and I kind of hate it.  I got it because it folds and would take up less space only..........we never fold it.  LOL.  You can't fold/unfold while holding a baby so, doesn't really work :)  It's also plastic and fabric and impossible to clean.  The only good thing is it comes with removable liners to the train (two of them) that are super easy to clean.

I should have gotten what I wanted but MIL insisted on getting it and I felt badly asking for too much $$$ but I wanted a Stokke.  Had I known about Keekaroo (very similar but much less than a Stokke) I'd have done that.

In reality though her daycare is a Montessori school and they all eat in small tables/chairs that they can come and go from as they want and she really prefers that so we have a small table and chair in our kitchen and she eats there most.  We never eat as a family (sad!) and we don't have a kitchen table so......it works for us.

  • We also have the Graco Contempo, and it's been great for us. It's nice to be able to fold it up and out of the way.
  • We have an Anka baby high chair which is convertible. When you?re done using it as a high chair, it can be transformed to a booster seat. We liked it because it is long-lasting and it has a lot of good safety features, like a broad base and a three-point safety harness system.
