How do you watermark your pics? Did you create your own and just save it in your editing program? If you do it through your editing program, do you just add a layer to the photo you can turn on and off to make it easier to send photos without the watermark for printing?
Have you heard of the program Visual Watermark (www.visualwatermark.com)? If so, is it worth it? Thanks lady! I have a feeling I'll be drilling you with tons of questions in the coming months.
I hope you don't mind!
Re: *Jules*
Hey lady! This is the tutorial that I like to use fir watermarks: www.thecoffeeshopblog.com/2009/09/coffeeshop-editing-101-making-your-own.html Putting it on its own layer is a good idea (though i dont always think to do that). Just remember to save the file as a .psd and if you are going to share rhem save a copy as a .jpeg
i havent heard of that program / site, but i can ask around to see if others have! Oh and no worries with asking questions! I love to talk photography and photoshop!!
Thanks Jules. I think I've seen that link before, but I didn't save it! You're a life saver. The mom LOVED the photos I did and wants to post some on FB, so I asked her to let me know which ones so I can copyright them for her. I need to design a logo for a watermark still, but for now I want to at least put the copyright, date, and the name I'll be using.
I watched a couple tutorials last night on watermarking in PSE 9 and it doesn't look too hard.
Glad I could help out! I know what you mean though, I had 40 sites saved with different info on my work computer and I needed to wipe the computer and I never saved the bookmarks so I lost them all. Thankfully I have been able to remember most as I've needed them.
Yay for the mom loving them! I would do the same thing too, give her a watermarked set to post only because I believe the FB TOS state that by posting the pictures on their site, they can also use them AND it will help prevent people from stealing them and claiming as their own work.
I've changed my watermark a few times, but I keep the same text: "Julia (Lastname) Photography" I don't plan to ever go into business - my mom was a pro photographer and I've seen how hard it really is to set up legitimately, how much work truly goes into it, and how much money it takes to get started BUT if I would for whatever reason change my mind about that, I think the wording sounds professional enough that I would still use it.
