"mom" and "dad" story
Relating to the calling inlaws mom and dad....So my mom usually called my dad's parents by their first names or grandma and grandpa, at least in my lifetime. After my older/only brother was born, she was in the hospital (after delivering him at home by accident...a long story...but the dr said you won't have this baby for two weeks...and she had him a couple of days later and she promptly switched doctors.) Anyway, the next day a beautiful corsage was brought to her room as a gift and signed love, mom and dad. Her dad had died so she knew it wasn't her parents and even though she didn't call my dad's parents mom and dad sometimes they referred to themselves as that. She was so happy and wore the corsage all day and told everyone about it. That night, a hospital staff person or nurse came by and said it had been a mistake and the corsage was for another patient at the hospital with the same name. She said she just bawled that night and the next day after that. I always feel sorry for her when she tells the story because her family was having some drama during all this and her mom couldn't afford or probably even thought of bringing her a corsage. I'm sure her hormones were crazy too with all of that going on. Just had to share.....

I love you, Daddy...2/24/1953 to 2/13/2011
Me too
I know. Me too. In the grand scheme of things it was just a flower, but it meant a lot to her. I have thought of sending her one to work but I don't think she would wear it.
When she told me this, it was one of the first times I realized/found out that in laws called their parents in laws mom and dad. That is why I wanted to share it when a post about that came up!
