How do you explain 9-11 to your kids?
While T and K are too young to really ask, Maren has already been asking what happened on 9-11, etc. I am unsure of how to explain it to her in terms that won't scare her and that she can understand, especially having so much family that live in NY (I don't want her to think her cousins are in danger). How are you planning on explaining it to your kids (especially if you have kids Maren's age)? TIA.

Re: How do you explain 9-11 to your kids?
Peyton and I have been talking about it lately and I explain it that some bad people crashed airplanes into some buildings and hurt a lot of people. I didn't give her details and she didn't ask too much more. The way I look at it, I want her to know about these things but not stress about them happening to her, people she knows, etc. She knows there are really bad people in the world but doesn't dwell on it much.
We have told Berkeley the same thing. I didn't sugarcoat it much but I obviously didn't tell her the awful details. I don't want the girls to be naive to these events but, like I said, I don't want them thinking something like this would happen to them either.
