mine crapped out and i had to wait until i got to work for my coffee. wasn't pretty. But with all the improvments in my kitchen, i want to make a "coffee bar" on one of my small counter areas. I need coffee pot first. It needs to have a timer so my coffee is ready when I get out of bed. What other fun stuff could I add to this coffee bar area?
Waht coffee maker do you have and do you like it enough to recommend it to me? I have my eye on one from JC Penneys, but we'll see.
oh, and I prefer not to go with a kuerig or anything like that. We (yes, SKylar drinks more coffee than me!) like black coffee with flavored creamers. At this point, Almond Joy creamer is our favorite!
Re: recommend your coffee maker
We have this coffee maker (w/out the grinder) from Target:

While we don't drink coffee everyday, we really like it. It's got a great timer and I like the look of the clock on it.
I have never had a good cup of coffee out of a Keurig. I give them 2 huge thumbs down. And those little cups produce SO much waste.
My parents have this guy and love it. It's a Cuisinart.
We have this one. It's a very basic Mr. Coffee but it does have a timer and gets the job done! :-) We got it for our wedding. My only regret is not registering for a "snazzier" looking one. This is cheapy looking black plastic. Oh well, I don't use it all that often.
This is the one I am looking at. I really like the look and design of it. It's on sale at JC Penneys for $79 and I have a coupon also. But like I said, I am VERY open to suggestions. I know KA is a good, well trusted brand also, which is a huge plus.
We have this one. It's really nice, does the job. I do like that it's programmable. I want to try the Keurig... there is one here at work, I may have to steal a cup of coffee from it sometime.
edit: just realized I never posted the link. That's helpful, huh? http://www.target.com/p/Mr-Coffee-12-Cup-Programmable-Coffeemaker-Black/-/A-10135510
We have a slightly older version of this Kitchen Aid one, Andy got it about 5 years ago so it looks a little different. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't speak to how good the coffee is, but I know the machine had had no problems and works great. I'm the one who makes Andy's coffee since I'm downstairs in the kitchen before he is each morning.
Mr. Sammy Dog
I've found it makes really weak coffee so play with the settings if you like stronger coffee.
my read shelf:
Oh, I just saw this idea on the better homes and garden website!

They had a basket that held filters, travel mugs, etc. next to the coffee pot so it was a one stop shop for everything coffee. Also get a cute jar for the coffee grounds/beans. We just bought a french press and we love that! Especially because I boil water for my oatmeal so I just use some for the coffee too. But on days where I require more than one cup I use my regular coffee pot. We just have one from target that we got as a wedding present, it has held up pretty well. I typically tend to go with my dad's opinion on things..the fewer "gadgets" on it the less that can go wrong with it.
We got a similar Mr. Coffee for our wedding and it died after about 6 months. We then bought the Cuisinart shown above and it has worked like a charm for the past 3 years, and my husband makes an entire pot every single day. Highly recommend it! It is always on sale at Macy's.
We have this one which is fully programmable and grinds the beans just before it makes the coffee. It even has a water filter.

We set it the night before. It's kind of expensive, but if you consider that I used to drink starbucks every day it has paid for itself tenfold in the three years we've owned it. My only complaint is that it is a lot of pieces to clean every night. I'm willing to do it because I am a total coffee snob and love my freshly ground and brewed coffee each morning.
We just have the standard coffee maker, but if we were to buy a different one it would definitely have an insulated craft. My uncle has an insulated one and it always seems that the last cup of his coffee still tastes good (not like the semi burnt one we have).
This is what he has.
