Fall

What are the fall months like where you live?  I must admit I'm a smidge jealous of your northern ladies who have actual seasons.  We got a cool front last night that took us down from the low 100's to the 90's.  That's a typical fall here in Texas.  I can't wait for November so we can get into the 70's!

For you ladies that do live up north, what are some must-see places to travel in the fall?  I'd like to plan a trip someday.

Happy Labor Day weekend to y'all!

Re: Fall

  • I head up to along the north shore of Lake Superior in MN.  It's beautiful.   We've narrowed it down to the last 2 weeks of Sept/ early Oct. for the best colors.  It's amazing.  There is one trail along the ridge looking down towards the water where you feel as if you are surrounded in gold when the sun is shining thru.  We try to camp every year around this time up there. Tettagouche is one of our favorite parks but there are so many.  Come up and we'll meet ya!

It's also a great are for dog-sledding in the winter months too.

  • They say there is a fall here, but I have yet to see it. In my opinion, it goes straight from summer to winter.  There's a spring, but no fall.

For example, it was 102 last weekend, and next weekend the sky lifts will probably be open.

  • i can't believe it is Sept already although I have been dying for it to get here! Upstate NY is beautiful about mid Oct with the foliage and all along the Hudson River. I can't wait to take the baby on some strolls when the air is nice and cool but not yet cold

  • We don't have the regular seasons here.  We have a late summer, so September is usually the hottest month, and then October is the nicest.  Halloween is always a gamble... it could be really hot, but it could suddenly drop to freezing.

Also, it cools down at night here (sort of a desert climate), so on the one hand it can't get too hot, even on the hottest days.  On the other hand, if you're wearing shorts when the sun goes down you will suffer!

Another weird thing here is that the temperature varies a lot in a small area.  The city of San Francisco is pretty much always cool and overcast.  My town enjoys mild and pleasant weather (yesterday was sunny, in the 80's, with a light breeze), but we visited another town further inland over the weekend and it was close to 100.

The best months here are October and November and then March-May, although it can rain during those months.  But right now it's hazy, which I don't like as much.

  • Fall is my faaavorite season. I'm in the Mid-Atlantic with four seasons but fall is the best... gorgeous leaves, low humidity, comfy temps. I even like the rain in the fall (don't like rainy days any other season). I just wish we got more snow in the winter.

And hor the first time ever I organized my entire wardrobe to get ready for a season. It was super helpful, and I now feel more prepared for both fall and winter. I also found a ton of clothes that were buried or I'd forgotten about, so it's almost like having a new wardrobe too.

ETA: The weather does vary here a lot. Some years the most gorgeous fall weather is late October. Other years, mid-November is the height of it. September usually has summery temps but I still like the lower humidity we enjoy then.
