How to meet new people?
Ok So I am new to Ft Myers and dont know a soul. I am use to get together with my friends, go for lunch etc but here i dont know what to do. I feel like unless I have a kid is hard to meet new people. DH work long hours so its mainly me by myself.

Since moving to Florida I have met all my friends through running groups, my swim team, the YMCA, and the Nest.
Meeting new friends at our age in a new town is hard. I sometimes feel like I'm dating.

I've only lived in my current town for a little over a year and I have approximately ZERO friends here.
I met my only friends in the Tampa Bay area through this board..... i guess i have a few acquaintences from the group I run with.

Like Nicole suggested, you could check out meetup.com - i've looked there, but nothing struck my fancy. i've even checked craigslist for running groups, but ultimately i'm to scared of some crazy killer to actually contact anyone via CL..
We met many of our "married friends" through Meetup.com after we first got married :-)
This is so true!
I check meetup but the groups I see are more for parents or for people to go out to bars etc. and I truly feel I am more in par with a parent than with a friday night going out..
springchick- I'm new to the area, too. I've met a few people at work and skating.
I'd vote for a gtg to meet some new people. It gets boring just working, skating, and hanging out at my apartment. I'd like to meet some of you ladies.
