Thoughts?

Ok we all know Peyton is out for who knows how long. But listening to 1070 someone came on and told Dokitch (sp?) that the Colts players and fans deserved this. (This being Manning's injury) Why do we deserve it? Because of this...

"Our Peyton who art in Indy hallowed be thy arm. Thy bowl will come, it will be won in Miami as it was on 07. Give us this Sunday our weekly win. And give us our many touchdowns, but don't let the evil Jets score against us. Lead us not into frustration, but deliver us a Super Bowl. For thine is the dynasty, the NFL's best, and the glory of Indy forever..."

Ok, I get it. I GET IT. It's a knock off of the Lord's Prayer. People are really creative. But to say someone deserves a serious injury is asinine.

And upon further googling...I've found we're not the only creative fans...

Our Brady, who art in Foxborough, hallowed be thy arm. Thy bowl will come, it will be won, in Dallas as it is in New England. Give us this Sunday, our weekly win, and give us many touchdown passes, but do not let the Jets pass against us. Lead us not into frustration, but deliver us to the valley of the sun. For thine is the MVP, the best of the AFC, and the glory of the Patriots, now and forever, AMEN!! GO PATS!

(Sorry-formatting sucks.) Nonetheless, I guess the same people would say Brady had his injury a few seasons back coming too.Confused

I'm side eying on this big time right now. We all know how hyped up I get on sports talk so no one is shocked by my anger I'm sure. hahaha

Can I get a hell yeah for the fact that hating the Jets was in both things? (Sorry Jets fans!)

Ha! That was my first thought when reading this!

I can't stand when something bad happens and people act as if God is out to intentionally punish a person or group of people. See also Michele Bachman's comments regarding Hurricane Irene being a punishment for the actions of Obama's administration. Ridiculous, and ignorant, if you ask me! As a Pats fan, I clearly have no love for Peyton, but he seems like a good person, and even if he's not, nobody "deserves" to get injured.

    I'm not sure either.

And I agree with Katie, down to the Irene comment.

  • I think people get so into the team mentality that they forget there are real people involved. I get frustrated by trash talking in general. If the team that I root for is really as good as I think then their actions will speak for themselves, no need for me to trash the other team.

  • I'm sure there aren't many pats fans who were all "That sucks Peyton is hurt we loove him!" just like when Brady got hurt most Colts fans didn't weep. Part of it. But you mean to tell me that God came to Pollard and said "Hit Toms leg. HARD. He deserves it." Get real. Just like Katie said...it's like the Irene comment. People can have their own opinions but my opinion is that they are ignorant. And im all for a good hearted trash talk. I hate the Pats but I love my pats girls and they know it. :) I can't help but think of feet when I see Rex Ryan. I love the game itsel and I could watch it all day long.

  • As a Pats fan who is definitely not a fan of the Colts, I don't see how Peyton ever had anything coming to him.  I've seen him in interviews, on SNL, etc. and he seems like a decent enough guy who just loves to play football (a bit cocky at times, but most at his level are).  Of course it's competition when they're on the field, but to say someone deserves something like that...it's just cruel.

Oh! Oh! I can answer this one - ME =)

(Sorry Kari, I know I jumped ship, but I'm in love with Mark Sanchez, and think Peyton has gotten pretty whiny when he doesn't get his way. I've officially been turned, and have been that way for two seasons now!)
