laminate+dog=?vacuum?

We have a house full of laminate flooring and a new shedding puppy :) could you tell me which vacuum you recommend? Thanks all!

Re: laminate+dog=?vacuum?

  • Our dog doesn't shed, but for dust, etc we use a push broom or dry swiffer to push it all together. Then using a soft tipped extension on a hand vac, we vac it up.

  • I generally advise against a Dyson but ours works well on the laminate because the brushes can be turned off so they don't shoot debris away.  It sucks up hair really well IMO.
  • I use a Bissell PowerEdge pet bagless stick vacuum.  I love it.  We use it on laminate and a very dark ceramic kitchen floor.  It is wonderful for our shedding dog and toddlers.

  • We just use a Roomba with our 3 heavily shedding cats.
  • Any vaccuum where you can turn off the beater brush should work.

We've had our Eureka Boss Smartvac for years and it works well on hard floors with 4 cats. We also have a big dust mop thingie that I use when I don't want to wake the kids - like the kind you see them use in a grocery store.

  • We have an all tile/hard wood floor.  I use the 2-in-1 Shark vacuum and steam cleaner because it vacuums up all the pet sheddings and then you can go back over it with the steam and sanitize the floors. Its a little pricey but I spent so much money on things that didnt work that this one was totally worth the investment.  Makes life a lot easier. I have one of their pet vacuums as well - http://www.bissell.com/pet-hair-eraser-vacuum/

The only thing is - it's kind of bulky. It works really well on my wood floors, laminate, and carpet, but I have to use a swiffer or a broom in the corners.

    The pups!
  • I just use my Dyson with the beater bar turned off. For my birthday I'm asking for a stick vac instead though - it' such a pain to drag out the Dyson just for quick touch ups.
  • We have a Swiffer Vac that I seriously use at least 3x a day with our shedding lab! It's awesome because it is lightweight, quick, and easy. I'll use my Dyson if I am already vacuuming the carpets but otherwise the Swiffer Vac is great!
