With all the remembrances scheduled this weekend for the ten year anniversary of 9-11-01, I got to wondering... where were you when you heard?

Re: So... Where were you?
I was a senior in high school, but dual enrolled at the community college. It just so happened that my first class was over, and on the way to the second everyone was gathered in the lobby areas watching the news coverage. We watched the second plane hit and our professors never held the class, we all just watched.
I also started giving blood at the first drive that was held at the college afterwards.
I will always remember.
I was in my first week of college, in my calc recitation. Some guy said something about a plane hitting WTC and I thought he meant a small two-passenger type plane. I think he convinced our TA to let us out early and went back to my dorm room where my roommate already had the TV on. We spent the whole day watching. We saw military helicopters flying over the campus (I went to Rutgers) when we left to get lunch.
I was extremely worried about my sisters, who were in high school, because I knew my dad had been going into the city for interviews. Somehow I got confirmation that he was IN the city and wouldn't be able to get home. I wasn't even sure if they knew what was going on and I was worried about how they were going to find out. They had to spend the night alone.
Junior in college. They had it on the television in the dining hall at breakfast, but at that time only the first plane had hit and no one knew what was going on yet. By the time I got to my Hippie Lit class at 9:30, they knew it wasn't an accident. My prof knew what it meant for our country's future and was really reminiscent of the protests against Vietnam in the 60's and dismissed class.
My roommates and I were glued to the tv b/c we were so in shock. We watched the towers fall on live television and it was like it happened in slow-motion. I remember my heart hurting...I couldn't imagine how the hijackers could hate people they didn't even know so much that they commit such an atrocious act.
ha! you guys all make me feel old. You were all still in school
I was working by that time. My best friend and I decided to go home (where I grew up in Tobago) for a couple weeks though. My mum is addicted to CNN and she just leaves it running in the kitchen all day. That morning, we were getting ready to go to the beach and we were standing there, towel in hand, when the reports of the first plane came in. We figured we would stop and watch for a bit. We saw the second plane hit and saw the towers fall. My bff's uncle had an office in one of the buildings so needless to say, she freaked out a little. We cut our vacay short and we were on one of the first flights back into the country. I'll never forget walking through Miami International and being one of maybe 10 people there. Eerie as hell.
