Anyone know where I can find both ends of magnets? I want to make a Christmas project and I need to stick 1 piece of fabric to another, I was thinking I'd put a magnet in each piece. Hopefully this makes sense.

that would work if they're strong enough. I'll check that out, thanks for the suggestion. For some reason I couldn't think of anything that used them, don't know how purses slipped my mind. I just kept thinking of the magnets on the bottom of shower curtain liners for some reason.
Hardware stores carry magnets, and they're usually cheaper there than craft or hobby stores.
ETA: Each magnet will have the north and south pole; just reorient two of them until you've got a N facing S.

All you have to do is flip the magnet over. This is why only one side will stick to your refrigerator.
We have very few magnets on our fridge (too cluttered for me) and they all have something on the other side so I never tried to put them on the wrong side. Guess it makes sense I just never thought about it.
Actually, a plain magnet that doesn't have something glued to one side will stick to the fridge no matter which way it faces.
A magnet's attraction is caused by an imbalance in the arrangement of electrons within the atoms. A refrigerator is not a permanent magnet; the electrons in the atoms of the fridge don't have that imbalance that causes magnetic attraction. But when you put a permanent magnet (which DOES have that imbalance) on the metal fridge, it rearranges the electrons in the metal to cause magnetism, and voila! They stick together. (Not all types of atoms can have their electrons rearranged that way, which is why magnets don't stick to plastic.)
It doesn't matter whether it's the N or S pole of the permanent magnet touching the fridge, either one will do the electron rearranging. When you remove the magnet, the electrons in the fridge's atoms go back to normal.
The reason why only one side of your take-out advertisement, save the date announcement, or chip clip will stick to the fridge is because those magnets are relatively weak and don't have enough oomph to reach through those other atoms and rearrange the electrons in in your fridge door.
(Sorry for the long-winded explanation. I'm a science teacher.)
Wow. Yeah, like I said, I was HORRIBLE at science (and math, but they seem to go hand in hand).
