Hi ladies. We are trying to find a place for a wedding reception (and possibly ceremony) next summer. A bunch of the main/traditional places are already booked for Saturdays next summer so we are trying to branch out to find additional places that might have availability. We're flexible for anywhere in the TC area, and would like to have flexibility with number of guests (so are looking at venues that could hold around 200 people or so) and would like to bring in an outside caterer (vs. having it catered by the place or having it at a traditional banquet hall or hotel.) Would also love somewhere with a bit more personality than a traditional banquet hall or hotel. Any recommendations? Any thoughts will be much appreciated!
Re: Recos for wedding venue?
If you are open to Northfield, check out The Grand. It's an old Opera House. Let me know if you want pictures of it as we had our wedding ceremony and reception there a year and half ago (our guests still talk about how unique of a venue it was). I don't know if they allow outside caterers but they do all their own cooking onsite and its really good food (not typical wedding food) and A LOT cheaper than if you are in the Twin Cities. They will work with you on the food as well so you can get what you want and you can choose your own bakery for your cake.
Northfield is only 45 minutes from Eden Prairie so its a little drive but no further some of the NE suburbs of the cities. You get more of a quaint small town feel as well.
My husband recently performed a ceremony at Dakota Lodge. Some of the places that I have liked doing weddings at are Theo Wirth Park, MN Landscape Arboretum, St. Paul College Club, and I am doing one at the Grand next weekend. I have heard good things about the Historic Court House in Stillwater

We got married and had our reception at the Day Block Building in Downtown Minneapolis, it was wonderful!
