I have a student named Adelaide (nn Addie).
I love the unique-ness of the name, but sometimes it makes me think of Kool-Aide.
Re: WDYT of this girl name?
Our crazy, wonderful life
Definitely NMS. I don't mind the nn Addie, but I'd probably name her Addison for that nn. It's quite unique, and I get it making you think of kool-aide.
I feel like that child is going to have to re-pronounce and spell her name for the rest of her life. I hope her last name isn't too complicated!
This is my niece's name. I love it (now). It took me a while to warm up to it when my SIL announced the name. She got a ton of crap for her girls names from family/people. I absolutely love all three girls names.
1. Adelaide (Addie-but only at school, she came home the first week of K with Addie on everything, my SIL wasn't exactly excited that her name was automatically shortened)
2. Genevieve (nn- Evie)
3. Charlotte (Charlie)
Neena Mae. 1/7/10

I prefer Adelynn to Adelaide. I love the nn Addie.
Like you, I make the Koolade, Lemondae connection.
