DIY tablerunners and placemats

I would like to know if there is an easy way to make your own tablerunners and placemats without having to sew them. I don't own a sewing machine or even know how to use one. Any suggestions would be great!

Re: DIY tablerunners and placemats

  • I've made table runners with hem tape before, in fact, I just pulled out the first one I did like that for Fall. I just folded the ends under and ironed, then ironed the ends into a V.

Or you could just cut burlap and let it fray. That would be cute for fall, I may just have to do that... :)

Don't know about placemats, since they would be washed often (if for everyday use).

  • Ditto on the hem tape.

All you need is a scissors and an iron.

    I use this: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?pageName=search&flag=true&PRODID=prd2975

It comes in a variety of sizes.

  • Okay, great. I thought I could do something like this. I have a fall runner but would like to have something neutral for other parts of the year, especially after Christmas. I found something online for burlap so I may try making a table runner with that. This will give me another reason to head to Joann's!
