How to organize teddy bears/doll in a playroom/bedroom?

I currently have the trillions of teddy bears & dolls sitting on top of a 3 shelving system that holds toys....but i have bigger toys that I would like to put on top of the shelves instead of on the floor...which leaves me boggled with how to organize the teddy bears/dolls. What does everyone else do with them? We literally have 30+.

Re: How to organize teddy bears/doll in a playroom/bedroom?

  • I would get one of those net things to hang on the wall.

Mine are all in their specially designated toy box. Stuffed animals in that toy box only. I don't think they're worth organizing more than that.

  • I have a basket the size of 2 storage cubes (about 1'x2'x1'). Stuffed animals and dolls get tossed in there. Sometimes I pull the tiny ones out from the bottom and put them in a plastic shoe box, but they never stay there.

If they don't fit, it's time to get rid of some.

  • Jen - very good idea.  Do you ever run into situations where your husband don't want you to get rid of them?  My stepdaughter has WAY too many stuffed animals.  So many that they won't fit in the largest rubbermaid container that I could find so they're also sitting on shelves and I just recently found some crammed under her bed.  DH doesn't want me to get rid of them and since she's my stepdaughter I don't push the issue but it's getting out of hand.  Anyone have any advice as to what I could do?

  • It's probably a bit much to designate a whole closet to the stuffed animals, but maybe putting them in a huge clear bag in the closet? That way, if anyone wants to play with them, they are easily accessable, and may even be forgotten about eventually. :)
  • I have one of those nets for my LOs stuffed animals. It is completely out of their reach.  I should probably thin the herd, since it's not like DD has asked to play w/ any of them!

Can't say I have, DH is a clutter bug, but he's willing to toss toys. But when it's time to thin things out, I ask the kids (well, I ask SS and DD), and they usually come up with things that they are ready to get rid of. When SS was younger and with DD now, they responded well to the idea that their things would go to other kids who didn't have many toys. SS at times has seemed thankful that I suggested getting rid of some stuff. He always felt bad if it was a gift, and reluctant to get rid of a gift even if he had never liked it.
